Monroeville's Alexa Adams shares FC player of year honor

Monroeville senior Alexa Adams was named co-Player of the Year in the Firelands Conference when the volleyball selections were announced Monday. Adams shared the award with Western Reserve senior Jamie Muenz. Adams ended the season with 256 digs, 255 kills and 58 aces for the Eagles, who went 25-3, finishing as state runners-up in Division VII. She was joined on the first team by classmates and fellow hitters Madi Reiber and Ady Adams. Reiber contributed 339 kills and 126 digs while Ady Adams tallied 287 kills, 175 digs and 49 aces. Also on the first team for Monroeville was senior Maddy Miller (311 digs) and junior libero Addison Homan (772 digs). St. Paul had two first team picks in juniors Ella Kalizewski and Annie Friend. Kalizewski led the Flyers with 301 kills and 47 blocks while adding 218 digs. Friend topped St. Paul with 783 assists and 58 aces serving while picking up 213 digs defensively. Addison Lyons (534 assists) was the lone second team pick for Monroeville while Brooklyn Cassidy (224 kills, 216 digs), Lily Cuturic (432 digs) and Bella Guerra (213 digs) were honored for St. Paul.
