Keegan claims victory

MARGARETTA TWP. — The numbers added up for an experienced financial professional, who received overwhelming support from voters on Election Day. Diane Keegan topped the four-person field in the Margaretta Township trustees race, receiving a little more than 28% of the total vote, according to unofficial results from the Erie County Board of Elections. The race's other winner, Gary Pooch, an incumbent, received just above 26% of the total vote. Their four-year terms start in January. They'll serve alongside Ed Cullen. Regarding the race's other two challengers, Mark Stacy, at about 23%, and Johnathan Schaeffer, at about 22%, each came up short. Keegan, a near-lifelong resident of the township, boasts more than 40 years of financial experience, which includes serving as treasurer for Margaretta Schools. "I believe my professional background, combined with my lifelong connection to Margaretta, gives me a strong foundation that would make me a valuable asset as a Margaretta Township trustee," said Keegan, whose priorities consist of "managing expenses responsibly within the limits of our tax revenue." Pooch echoed those sentiments. "With ongoing needs for the roads, cemeteries and fire protection, it's essential to make every dollar count," Pooch said.
