Donations wanted at SCCS

SANDUSKY — With the help of former students, Sandusky Central Catholic School aims to support locals in the community needing hygiene products. Steve Kohler, the Teen Leadership Corps teacher at St. Mary Central Catholic High School, recently invited three former students into his classroom as guests. Jayce Killian, Madison Shenigo and Mena London spoke to Kohler's students about a hygiene product drive for Sandusky's Care and Share. Just kicking off and running until Dec. 1, his students will participate in the drive. Students in first through 12th grades are helping out by collecting the items, while the Teen Leadership Corps will organize the collection and promote the project within the school. Any community member interested in supporting can also participate through donated products or cash. Kohler said the Teen Leadership Corps students will use monetary donations to buy products. Kohler noted several ways to donate: • For Sandusky Central Catholic School, people can bring products to the school at the blue awning entrance. • There is a box at each of the three Catholic churches in Sandusky. • Donations can also be sent in with a student or staff member to Sandusky Central Catholic School. Items that can be donated are: • Shampoo • Body wash/soap • Deodorant • Feminine products • Toilet paper • Detergent • Bleach • Dish soap • Mouthwash • Body wipes • Nail clippers Small bottles and products are preferred because many of those in need are those who walk or use bus transportation. Want to donate • What: SCCS students are collecting hygiene products for Care and Share of Sandusky. • When: Donations will be collected through Dec. 1. • Where: Donations can be given to a student or staff member to donate, brought to the school's blue awning entrance or dropped off at the three catholic churches in Sandusky. • Who: Students in first through 12th grades are collecting, while the Teen Leadership Students organize the products. • More: Small bottles and products are preferred.
