Donation to provide beds for children

PORT CLINTON — In a demonstration of community spirit, 100 Caring Hearts of Ottawa County recently announced a donation of $9,925 to the Ottawa County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit committed to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor. This donation will go directly toward building and delivering hand-crafted beds to children and families in need throughout Ottawa County. With each bed — complete with a mattress, pillow and bedding — this gift will provide comfort, dignity and better sleep to dozens of local children. "We were incredibly moved by the mission of Sleep in Heavenly Peace and the real, tangible difference they make in our own communities," said Stephanie Barth, a spokeswoman for 100 Caring Hearts. "This donation is more than just money: It's about giving kids the security and comfort of their own bed, something many of us take for granted." In short, 100 Caring Hearts of Ottawa County is a giving circle made up of community-minded women who come together quarterly to make a significant impact through collective donations. Each quarter, members nominate local charities and vote on where to direct their pooled funds. Sleep in Heavenly Peace was selected at their most recent gathering.
