Murder suspect pleads guilty

SANDUSKY — A man accused of strangling a woman earlier this year in Sandusky pleaded guilty to murder charges. Toldrick M. Griffin, Jr., 20, of Rochelle, Georgia, pleaded guilty today to two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault. He was accused of the Feb. 10 strangulation death of a woman who was found in a home in the 1100 block of Perry St. The woman, identified by the initials S.H. in the indictment, was pregnant at the time of her death. All additional counts of his indictment were dismissed in exchange for his three guilty pleas. He is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Erie County Common Pleas Court Judge Roger Binette's court. Griffin was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop on Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) near the city limits. State troopers called Sandusky police to check the residence of the car's registered owner. When police entered the home, they found the woman dead. Officers then obtained a search warrant and removed evidence from the home. Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver described Griffin's relationship with the victim as a romantic one. During questioning, Griffin allegedly made "admissions about what happened at the residence, including an argument with the female," Oliver said.
