PHOTOS: Hundreds of witches make history

SANDUSKY — They cast a spell to have fun, help local nonprofits and achieve history. On Saturday, hundreds of people descended upon downtown Sandusky for the annual Sandusky Witches' Walk event. Among the most notable changes for 2025: Teenagers with adult supervision could attend the event, which helped support local bars and restaurants within the commercial business district. Additionally, proceeds from the event benefited four local nonprofits/entities: • The Kiwanis Club of Sandusky for its youth literacy program • Sandusky's youth recreation services for internet services at Outta School @ Mills • Chalk it Up Sandusky for the purchase of supplies • The Erie County Senior Center for its Meals on Wheels program And the event officially set two Guinness World Records: • The World's Largest Witch Costume Contest; It's believed at least 900 people dressed up in the costume contest. • The World's Largest Group of Witches Dancing the Witch Dance; It's believed at least 750 people participated in the dance. "Thank you to every organization, business, entity and person that answered our call for help," according to an event statement. "Every single person has played an important role.
