Mascots crash groundbreaking ceremony

FREMONT — Mascots from rivaling universities momentarily set aside their differences to unite and celebrate a milestone moment in Fremont. On Oct. 9, many parties came together at a groundbreaking ceremony for Fremont Federal Credit Union's future headquarters being built on the east bank of the Sandusky River in Fremont. "More than just a new building, this investment will revitalize the site of the former Kroger building and spark continued growth on Fremont's east side," according to a statement from the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce. "Congratulations to Fremont Federal Credit Union on this milestone. We look forward to seeing this vision come to life." Among those in attendance: • Freddie Falcon and Frieda Falcon, representing Bowling Green State University • Rocky Rocket and Rocksy Rocket, representing the University of Toledo Beginning this year, the credit union now serves as the presenting sponsor for the yearly Battle of I-75 Rivalry Series in football between BGSU and UT. In fact, the two teams played each other on Oct. 11 with host Bowling Green beating Toledo, 28-23. The Falcons retained the I-75 Trophy after also defeating the Rockets last year. Those with Janotta & Herner, overseeing the project's construction, beamed with great pride when describing this project.
