PREP ROUNDUP: Huron makes quick work of Galion

HURON — Huron got better as it wore on, pounding Galion 25-10, 25-8, 25-6 in a Division V sectional final Thursday. The Tigers improved to 18-5 and will face Ashland Crestview (16-7) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal at Seneca East. Jada Foster led Huron with 13 kills. Mya Smith added eight kills and Addison Graham finished with seven kills. Reece Hotz contributed 26 assists. Jenna Cox had 14 digs and Adelyn Van Sickle finished with 12. Maggie Orzech was 26 for 28 serving. Edison 3, Western Reserve 0 WILLARD — The Chargers swept Western Reserve 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 in a Division V sectional final at Willard High School. Edison (10-13) will face Willard (20-3) in a district semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Seneca East. Willard swept the Chargers twice this season. Edison previously defeated the Roughriders (13-10) in five sets Sept. 15 in Collins. Peyton Bissell tallied 15 assists and 10 points served for the Chargers while Taylor Moore had 15 digs. Stella Brown added 14 digs and nine points, Paige McFadden had 10 assists and Abby Cloud lined eight kills. Macari Harris and Dana Preston each added six kills. Crestview 3, Port Clinton 0 HURON — The Redskins finished 4-19 overall after a 25-10, 25-19, 25-12 loss to Crestview in a Division V sectional final. Division IV Bellevue 3, Upper Sandusky 0 BELLEVUE — The Lady Red stormed past Upper Sandusky 25-13, 25-16, 25-11 in a Division IV sectional final. Bellevue improved to 19-4 and will play Oak Harbor (19-4) in a district semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Old Fort. Ellie Freitag dished out 26 assists for the Lady Red while Finley LaPata smacked 12 kills. Kate Baptista (four aces) picked up nine digs and Hallie McCarthy lined eight kills. Ella Dauch served five aces for Bellevue. Oak Harbor 3, Clyde 1 BELLEVUE — Oak Harbor defeated Clyde 25-16, 18-25, 25-23 25-18 in a sectional final. The Fliers finished their season with a record of 7-16. Division VI Gibsonburg 3, Margaretta 0 GIBSONBURG — The Polar Bears saw their season come to an end as Gibsonburg topped Margaretta 25-20, 26-24, 25-18 in a Division VI sectional final. The Polar Bears, who lost to Gibsonburg in four sets Sept. 27 at Gibsonburg, finished the year with a record of 6-17. Kenadie Saylor smacked 11 kills for Margaretta while Lily Belak had 17 digs and 10 kills. Tarah Hershey tallied 14 assists, Ella Limberios picked up 13 digs and Ellie Young registered 12 assists for the Polar Bears. BOYS SOCCER Division III Perkins 8, Sandusky 0 PERKINS TWP. — Kaden Camp scored three goals to the lift the Pirates to an 8-0 Division III sectional final victory. Perkins improved to 16-0-3 and will face Sylvania Southview (13-2-1) in a district semifinal at 5 p.m. Monday at Lake High School. Kannyn Henson tallied two goals for the Pirates while Anthony Bonica, Mateusz Dixon and Grant Hickman each scored once. Titus Normington-Slay contributed three assists for Perkins. Sandusky finished the season with a record of 1-14-1. Division IV Edison 8, Clyde 0 MILAN TWP. — Alex Davidson scored six goals as the Chargers cruised to an 8-0 Division IV sectional championship win over Clyde. Edison improved to 17-0-1 and will face Upper Sandusky (9-9), a team it beat 9-0 on Sept. 13 at home, in a district semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shelby High School. Gavyn Blackburn and Carter Jones each scored for the Chargers. Blackburn contributed four assists in the win. Upper Sandusky 3, Port Clinton 0 UPPER SANDUSKY — The Redskins finished their season with a record of 8-7-2 after a Division IV sectional final loss to Upper Sandusky. Caden Hanson made 13 saves in goal for Port Clinton. Kenton 5, Vermilion 1 KENTON — The Sailors bowed out of the tournament with a 10-9 record after losing to Kenton in a Division IV sectional final. TENNIS PC doubles team bows out at state MASON — Port Clinton's Megan Zgodzinski and Shantha Weit lost in the first round of the OHSAA state tennis tournament. Zgodzinski and West fell 6-3, 6-0 to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy's Corinne Labin and Miranda Wang at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in suburban Cincinnati. Seven of the eight first-round doubles matches were won in straight sets. The PC doubles team finished its season with a record of 33-3.
