Volleyball match raises $9K

PERKINS TWP. — Earlier this month, Perkins High School's volleyball team hosted its annual Volley for the Cure event. The yearly fundraiser raised about $9,000 for Sandusky-based Cancer Services, which "aims to address the whole person, not just the disease," according to a nonprofit statement. "We provide services that focus on reducing financial stress and providing comfort and guidance during difficult times," it read. "Our services include transportation and mileage reimbursement for cancer-related appointments, nutrition, prescription assistance, medical supplies and equipment, wigs and caregiver resources." Regarding the recent volleyball match, host Perkins welcomed in Bellevue High School for the event, which featured a photo booth, raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing, bake sale and more. Firelands Federal Credit Union made a $2,000 contribution, and workers volunteered at the concession stand. Organizers thanked everyone who made this event a success.
