Nine area teams in position to make playoffs

The updated computer ratings were released by the OHSAA on Tuesday and nine area teams are in line for playoff berths. The top 12 schools in each region in the final report October 26 qualify for the playoffs. The top four seeds get a first-round bye. Division IV Region 14 is backlogged with area teams. Vermilion (4-3) is eighth while Perkins (4-3) is ninth. After Van Wert sits 10th, Bellevue (4-3) is 11th while Clyde (2-5) is 12th. This week, Vermilion travels to Huron (3-4), Perkins hosts Norwalk (2-5), Bellevue hits the road to take on Columbian (4-3) and Clyde hosts Sandusky (1-6). Two area teams would make the playoffs in Division V Region 18. Edison (5-2), coming off of a loss to Clyde, still sits fifth. The Chargers travel to Port Clinton (4-3). The Redskins are 12th in this week's ratings. Margaretta is the lone area team in the top 12 in Division VI Region 22. The Polar Bears (6-1) knocked off No. 2-ranked Hopewell-Loudon last week, but still trail the Chieftains in the ratings. Margaretta hits the road to Seneca County again this week to battle Calvert (3-4). Two Firelands Conference teams are represented in Division VII Region 25. Monroeville (4-3) is fifth this week. The Eagles host Plymouth (1-6) on Friday. St. Paul (3-4) is ninth and host South Central (1-6) this week. Also Tuesday, the new state football poll was released. After the road win over Hopewell-Loudon to take sole possession of first place in the Sandusky Bay Conference River Division, Margaretta is up to No. 9 in Division VI. Hopewell-Loudon dropped two spots to No. 4. Perkins is in the others receiving votes category in Division IV. The Pirates have won three games in a row, outscoring opponents 148-20 in those games. Despite its loss to the Fliers, Edison stayed in the others receiving votes category in Division V. The Chargers had won three straight games before the road loss to Clyde. Cincinnati Elder (Div. I), Cincinnati Anderson (Div. II), Bishop Watterson (Div. III), Shelby (Div. IV), Liberty Center (Div. V), Kirtland (Div. VI) and Marion Local (Div.
