Monroeville stays No. 5 in latest volleyball poll

After two wins last week, Monroeville stayed at No. 5 in the latest Division VII volleyball state coaches poll that was released Sunday night. The Eagles (17-2, 12-0 Firelands Conference) recorded a four-set win over South Central before a five-set victory over St. Paul. Monroeville can clinch the outright FC title Tuesday when it hosts New London (11-9, 6-6). The Eagles then host Mapleton (3-14, 2-9) on Thursday and Carey (14-5) on Saturday evening. Huron remained in the others receiving votes category in Division V. The Tigers (14-5, 7-1 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division) are coming off a win over Division I Hilliard Davidson on Saturday. Huron travels to Margaretta (6-14, 2-5) on Tuesday, host Vermilion (8-12, 3-5) on Thursday and host Bishop Hartley (13-7) on Saturday. St. Paul is also in the others receiving votes category in Division VII. The Flyers (12-6, 10-2 Firelands Conference) opened last week with a win over Plymouth and finished it with a three-set victory over Ashland. St. Paul has a busy final week of the regular season. The Flyers host Crestview (15-5, 8-4) on Tuesday and travel to Division VII No. 8 Old Fort (14-4) on Wednesday.
