Report: Teacher sent explicit photo to student

BELLEVUE — Records released by school administrators indicate that a Bellevue Schools substitute teacher allegedly sent sexually explicit photos to an underage student. A Sandusky County grand jury indicted Kaiden Olson, 21, of the 100 block of W. Merlin Lane in Clyde, on Sept. 9 on one count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a fifth-degree felony. The charge appears to relate to a letter released by the district earlier this year stating a substitute was under investigation and removed from its list of staff. At the time, neither the school district nor law enforcement identified the teacher nor specified the nature of the allegations. Through a March records request, the Register confirmed there was a "call for service" report from the sheriff's office indicating that district school resource officer, Deputy Eric Burt, responded to a "juvenile incident" at Bellevue High School in March, but the report did not provide further clarity on the nature of the incident. At this time, Bellevue police Chief Marc Linder told the newspaper that his agency was conducting an investigation. "At this time, there is an active investigation into a substitute teacher for alleged misconduct," Linder said in March. "But under (state law), we will not be releasing the investigation report until the suspect is either charged or cleared of any wrongdoing." Questions answered Now, just under seven months later, details on what happened, along with Olson's alleged involvement with it, have been released. The newspaper confirmed Olson's involvement through Bellevue Schools superintendent Troy Roth and Olson's personnel record with the district, which included details of what happened earlier this year. Roth filed a "School District and Community School Reporting Form," which served to inform the state's education board about the alleged incident. The report, submitted by Roth on March 5, states: • Olson allegedly had inappropriate communication and use of technology/social media related to an incident dated on March 4, 2025. • Specifically, an underage student and one of the student's family members told Bellevue police that Olson had inappropriate communication with her through social media, including photos of his penis. • Burt was contacted by the police department to conduct an interview with the student and view screenshots of the messages and photos. • Olson was then removed from the district's staff list. • Belleuve police and the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office were both contacted about the incident. According to Olson's court docket, he was arraigned and pleaded not guilty on Sept. 22. He has since been released from jail of his own recognizance.
