Lewis looks after kids

FREMONT — Those with the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office are publicizing the school resource officers who protect and serve students along with staff members at local school district buildings. Recently, it featured sheriff's Deputy Sam Lewis, who's assigned to Vanguard Sentinel Career and Technology Center. The office recently posted some biographical information about her: • Her experience in law enforcement: about 10 years • Her favorite school lunch: chicken alfredo • Her favorite school subject: physics • Her least favorite school subject: calculus • What she enjoys most about working with students: "Getting them to laugh when they want to play it cool." • What she enjoys in her free time: reading, fishing and playing video games • Her challenges in the role: "Getting everyone on the same page about why safety matters. I've found that explaining why things are done a certain way helps people buy into the process." • A fun fact: "I lived in Nigeria for eight years as a kid, but when I was stateside, I grew up mostly in Louisiana and Texas.
