UPDATE: Boy found alive

Update 10:35 p.m. PERKINS TWP. — The search for an endangered child missing from Perkins Township has come to an end with the child found safely. Geovonni Simcox-Flynn, 4, was taken from the area by his mother, Sidney Simcox, according to Perkins police Detective Joseph Rotuno. Simcox reportedly had a meeting with children's services after a drug test came back positive for cocaine and fentanyl, Rotuno said. She went off the radar and fled the area with the child. CPS obtained emergency custody of Geovonni. Perkins police reached out to multiple agencies including Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investiagtion, the FBI and the Indiana State Police for help in locating the child. Police developed information that said Simcox could possibly be in the Toledo region, Rotuno said. That search area was then expanded to include Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. At about 10:15 p.m., Simcox and the boy were located at a Love's service station outside of Tipton, Indiana. That is about 35 miles north of Indianapolis and just under 250 miles from Perkins Township. Geovonni is in good health, according to Rotuno. Erie County CPS is on the way to Tipton to take custody of the boy. Simcox was arrested on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of child endangering, but Rotuno said, more charges may be forthcoming. Police originally thought the boy's father, Tristan Flynn, was with him and Simcox, according to Rotuno. Simcox allegedly told officers the man was Flynn. Perkins officers sent Flynn's mugshot to Indiana and it appeared to match the man in custody. After the man was fingerprinted, it was discovered he was actually Thomas R. Richards, 35, of Toledo. Richards was admitted to the hospital after he was apprehended with Simcox due to allegedly ingesting a large amount of alprazolam. Original post 7:07 p.m. PERKINS TWP. — The Perkins Township Police Department has issued an Endangered Child Alert and is asking for the public's help in locating a missing 4-year-old boy. According to the alert, Geovonni Simcox-Flynn went missing on Thursday afternoon in Sandusky and is suspected to be with Sidney Simcox and Tristan Flynn. Geovanni is described as being 3-foot-5 and weighing 35 pounds with blond hair and brown eyes. "Law enforcement is concerned for his safety," according to a Missing Persons posting on the Ohio Attorney General's website. "Anyone with additional information or questions regarding this case should contact Perkins Township Police Department at 419-627-0824."
