RECURRING EVENTS Sandusky • After School Snacks: From 4-4:45 p.m. every weekday, the Sandusky Library will host snacktime for anyone under 18. This spine-chilling event features multiple haunted experiences guaranteed to test your courage, packed with detailed sets, shocking special effects and award-winning frights. Lake EERIE FearFest promises an unforgettable night of screams and thrills—making it a must-visit Halloween destination on the Lake Erie coast. Tickets are $25. Norwalk • Maple City Book Read: Every Tuesday through the end of October. From 11 a.m. – noon, and 6 – 7 p.m., at the Norwalk Public Library located at 46 W. Main Street, and 10 – 11 a.m., at the Huron County Senior Center, located at 325 Shady Lane Norwalk. Come together with fellow community members for the Maple City Book Read of "What's Right NOT Who's Right" by Robert S. Tipton. No registration is required. Port Clinton • Afternoon Storytime: From 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. every Thursday at Ida Rupp Public Library located at 310 Madison Street. If you can't make it to the regular Tuesday morning story time, join the library for a half hour afternoon story time to enjoy stories, music, movement, crafts, activities, and socialization. In case you have older children who need to be picked up from the elementary school, we plan to wrap up in time to get in line for after school pickup. Huron • Osborn MetroPark parkrun: Parkrun is a timed 5K walk/jog/run happening every Saturday at 9 a.m. at Osborn MetroPark, 3910 Perkins Ave. The event is free and open to all ages; people are welcome to bring their strollers or dogs. Hayes Presidential Library, located at Spiegel Grove. Local historian Mike Gilbert shares fascinating stories of local and national history during this popular series. Prerecorded virtual sessions also will be offered for those who cannot attend in-person. Each week will focus on a new topic. This week will be "Turning Point: The Pivotal Third Day of Gettysburg." THURSDAY Sandusky • Sunset Cruise: Departing at 6 p.m., from Jackson Street Pier. What could be better than a sunset cruise on the Goodtime? Dinner on the pier and a little history about Sandusky Bay's incredible history. Walking Taco will be on the pier around 2 p.m. to appease your appetite. There will be a 50/50 drawing and multiple door prizes. Boarding begins at 5:30. All proceeds go to the Erie County Historical Society, promoting history and historical groups and museums in Erie County. Fremont • Book Talk: Beginning at 6 p.m., at Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum, located at Spiegel Grove. First it was a special exhibit at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums on Ohio folklore, legends and cryptid creatures. Now it's a book that builds on the exhibit and takes an in-depth look at these fascinating stories that have been told and retold for generations. "Unnatural Ohio: A History of Buckeye Cryptids, Legends and Other Mysteries" by Kevin Moore and M. Kristina Smith was published by The History Press in September 2023. Back by popular demand, Kevin and Kristina will share more legends from their book, which covers cryptids, ghost stories and UFO-related tales. Books will be available for purchase. There is no cost to attend. Port Clinton • Ned Talks: From 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., at Shores and Island Ohio Welcome Center West, located at 770 S.E. Catawba Rd. Gale Martin, owner of Native in Harmony, will discuss the importance of planting native plants in your garden. Come explore the native plants around our center. FRIDAY Sandusky • Emo Night: Beginning at 8 p.m., at The Cove at Louie's located at 2331 River Avenue. Break out the skinny jeans & eyeliner– it's Warped Tour vibes all night. Enjoy emo anthems from iconic bands such as Blink-182, Paramore, MCR, Panic!, Sum 41 and many more performed by Flicker//Fade. Dress in your emo best, sing loud and cry harder. SATURDAY Sandusky • Blue Streak Pride 5k: From 8 – 11 a.m., at Strobel Field Cedar Point Stadium, located at 2118 Camp Street. The 11th annual Blue Streak Pride 5k run/walk will begin with a kids' fun run. This is a time when participants can get fit, be involved, and support the students of Sandusky City Schools. The event will be held at Sandusky's own Strobel Field. All of the funds raised will directly benefit the students of Sandusky City Schools. Form a team, challenge a friend and come support Sandusky City Schools. Cost to participate $20 for adults, $5 for high school students, $3 for middle school students and free for elementary students. • 2nd Annual Tailgate: Beginning at noon at Clubhouse No.3, located at 220 E.
