Free health screenings offered

SANDUSKY — The Erie County Minority Health Task Force and Firelands Health, among other community partners, teamed up to offer the Community Day of Health. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at Spirit & Truth Ministries, 910 W. Madison St., Sandusky. "Join us for free health screenings, consultations giveaways and more," according to an event statement. "All are welcome." Screenings and wellness services include but are not limited to: • A1C fingersticks; This is a blood test that measures the average blood sugar, or glucose, level over the past two to three months • Balance screenings • Blood pressure tests • Colorectal screenings • Dental clinic; To register, call 567-867-5174. • Eye exams • Flu shots • General screenings for behavioral health disorders and alcohol use screening • Hearing screenings • Lab draws for lipid, A1C and prostate-specific antigen for prostate cancer • Lead screening for children from 1-6 years old • Lung function tests • Mammograms; To register, call 419-609-2826.• SNAP sign up • Varicose veins screenings • Mammograms and the dental clinic are available until 4 p.m. and require pre-registration.
