FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Perkins comes up short in final minute

CANAL WINCHESTER — Perkins had the lead in the second quarter, but didn't score in the second half of a 20-13 non-league loss to Harvest Prep. The Pirates (1-3) scored all of their points in the second quarter, taking a 13-7 lead on two Grant Hickman field goals and an 85-yard touchdown pass from Sam Schweinfurth to Blake Parker. Late in the fourth quarter, the Pirates moved the football from their own 34-yard line to the Harvest Prep 3. Perkins had first and goal, but rushed for no yards and threw three incomplete passes to turn the ball over on downs with 1:14 to play. Harvest Prep quarterback Collin Boff threw three touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score — an 18-yard hookup with Deyaire Adams — with 49 seconds left in the first half. Harvest Prep (2-2) outgained Perkins 419-302, but committed three turnovers to help the Pirates. Schweinfurth completed 14 of 31 passes for 248 yards and a touchdown for Perkins. Parker caught eight passes for 190 yards and the long touchdown. Boff completed 18 of 44 passes for 313 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions for Harvest Prep. Perkins' Bryce Davie picked off two passes and Parker had one interception. HP's Adams caught eight passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Perkins hosts Bellevue (3-1) on Friday. Kayli Gundlach's extra point made it 13-13, but Padua shut out Sandusky the rest of the way. The Streaks' first touchdown came on an 83-yard pass from Johnson to Dante Shipp Jr. Raymond Peake carried 12 times for 33 yards for Sandusky. Padua's Landon Hanover threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Sandusky visits Vermilion (3-1) on Friday.
