PREP ROUNDUP: Cooper leads Bellevue to another shootout win

NORWALK — Sam Cooper shot an even-par 36 to lead Bellevue to victory at a Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division shootout at Eagle Creek Golf Club on Thursday. Bellevue finished the nine-hole event with a 159, edging runner-up Perkins (163). The Redmen are undefeated in SBC shootouts this season. Also scoring for the Redmen was Caden Lindsey (40), Blake Sutherland (41) and Jackson Decker (42). Columbian was third at 174. Norwalk was fourth (180) and Clyde took fifth (184). Clyde's Nico Carroll shot a 39 to finish third among individuals. Perkins had four players finish in the top 10: Josh Cummings and Kyle Schaefer (tied for fourth at 40), Colton Kelley (41, tied for seventh) and Zach Cummings (42, tied for ninth). Vermilion wins Bay shootout SANDUSKY — Adam Gerber and Noah Penton each fired a 37, leading the Sailors to a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division shootout win at Wousickett Golf Course. Vermilion finished with a team total of 158 while Willard was second at 162. Margaretta (170) was third, Huron (183) was fourth, Edison (197) was fifth and Port Clinton (200) was sixth. Sam Riddle added a 39 for the Sailors while Landon Booker carded a 45. Keigyan Morris and Jaxson Bohn each finished with a 40 for the Polar Bears. Grant Humphrey topped Huron with a 42 while Paul Murray shot a 46. Hayden Lewis' 46 led Edison. Carter Thompson shot a 46 for PC. GIRLS GOLF Perkins girls win Lake shootout NORWALK — Perkins' Ireland Hart shot a 39 to easily win medalist honors at a Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division shootout at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Hart's nine-hole score led Perkins to a 185 total — 16 shots better than runner-up Clyde. Also scoring for the Pirates were Aubrey Ransom (48), Maycee Bohn (49) and Lucy Miller (49). Norwalk finished third at 205. Columbian was fourth (210) and Bellevue (211) finished fifth. Clyde's Samantha Young was second among individuals with a 47. Norwalk's Adyson Lepley and Emerson Ulery tied Ransom for third at 48. Clyde's Claire Collins shot a 49. Danbury 4th at River shootout FOSTORIA — Ashley Lewis shot a 48, leading the Lakers to a fourth-place finish at a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division shootout at Loudon Meadows Golf Club. Danbury shot a 205, one shot behind Calvert's third-place total of 204. Hopewell-Loudon won with an 188 while Old Fort was second at 193. Miranda Evans added a 49 for Danbury while Charley Lenthe fired a 52. Alexis Langenberg led St. Mary Central Catholic, who didn't score as a team, with a 55. VOLLEYBALL Margaretta 3, Vermilion 2 VERMILION — Margaretta beat Vermilion in five sets, 25-22, 25-20, 19-25, 25-27, 15-9, in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action. Kenadie Saylor matched her career-high with 25 kills for the Polar Bears (5-6, 2-1 SBC Bay). Renna Keller added nine kills and Lilly Belak had eight kills, 22 digs and five aces. Tarah Hershey had 41 assists and Ella Limberios finished with 23 digs for Margaretta. Sophie Habermehl led the Sailors (3-8, 0-3) with 13 kills. Faith Sergent had 11 kills and Elizabeth Okasinski added 10. Lauren Logsdon had four aces and 22 assists and Haley Stepp had 29 digs. Columbian 3, Norwalk 0 TIFFIN — Tiffin Columbian swept Norwalk 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 to force a four-way tie atop the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division. The loss was the first in the division for Norwalk, which fell to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Lake. Bellevue and Perkins also are 2-1 in division play. Woodmore 3, SMCC 0 ELMORE — Woodmore swept St. Mary Central Catholic 25-23, 25-17, 25-7, in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division action. Reid Didion had seven kills and Gianna Renwand added five for the Panthers (2-9, 0-7 SBC River). Finley Karr had 15 assists and Ella Brownell finished with 21 digs. Danbury 3, Northwood 0 NORTHWOOD — The Lakers cruised to a 25-17, 25-9, 25-14 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win over Northwood. Avrey Bowling led Danbury (6-7, 3-4 SBC River) with 12 kills while Cali Wunder had 21 assists. Zoe Uhnick added 20 digs for the Lakers. Monroeville 3, New London 0 NEW LONDON — The Eagles improved to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in the Firelands Conference with a 25-13, 25-21, 25-9 win. Madi Reiber had 11 kills for Monroeville while Addison Homan picked up 18 digs. Kaci Poths tallied 15 assists, Addison Lyons had 14 assists and three aces and Maddy Miller registered 10 digs and two aces. Alexa Adams lined eight kills for the Eagles. Ady Adams finished with eight digs, five aces and five kills, Gabby Loose had six kills, Rachel Fries contributed six digs and Riley Platte added four kills and three blocks. TENNIS SMCC sweeps Willard SANDUSKY — St. Mary Central Catholic won a pair of Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division matches against Willard, 4-1 and 3-2, respectively.
