PREP ROUNDUP: Huron boys, girls blank Columbian

HURON — Huron's boys and girls soccer teams both shut out Tiffin Columbian on Wednesday in Sandusky Bay Conference action at Mucci Field. The Huron boys defeated Columbian 3-0 in the first game, scoring all goals in the first half. Peter Cencer scored the first goal off a Carter Brennan corner kick. Brennan scored the next two goals on free kicks as the Tigers improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the SBC. The Tigers' girls squad followed up with a 6-0 win over Columbian. Ava Manner scored three goals and added an assist as the Tigers improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the SBC. Leah Kohlmann added two goals while Erin Findley had a goal and an assist for Huron. Lilly Thompson and Kate Ryan each had assist. GIRLS SOCCER Perkins 5, Vermilion 0 PERKINS TWP. — Perkins shut out Vermilion 5-0 in Sandusky Bay Conference action for its sixth straight win. Isa Ramirez and Ireland Hart each had two goals for the Pirates. Jordyn Brunner added one goal and two assists and Emma Mullins had an assists. Perkins improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the SBC. The Pirates have outscored their last six opponents 23-2. Port Clinton 5, Sandusky 0 SANDUSKY — Port Clinton shut out Sandusky in Sandusky Bay Conference play to improve to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the SBC. Summer Lopresto and Audrey Rohrer each had two goals for PC. Emma Knecht added one goal. Bellevue 11, Northwood 0 BELLEVUE — Jersey Mayes scored three goals to lead Bellevue to a Sandusky Bay Conference shutout win over Northwood. Other goals were scored by Reece Young, Lily Sosa, Brooklyn Stoval, Bailey Nichols, Ava Heal, Ryleigh Knutti, Angela Sanchez and Lyla Young. Edison 2, Clyde 0 MILAN TWP. — Sophie Baker scored on an assist from Kailyn Dickman and Kellyn Ritchie scored on a penalty kick to lift Edison to the Sandusky Bay Conference win at Freedom Field. Ella Rogers made eight saves to get the shutout in goal as the Chargers improved to 3-4-1 overall and 3-2 in the SBC. BOYS SOCCER Port Clinton 4, Sandusky 1 SANDUSKY — Port Clinton moved above .500 in the Sandusky Bay Conference with a road win against Sandusky. Casey Brand led the Redskins with two goals. Boe Mominee and Adam Fitt each scored one goal. Caden Hanson made nine saves in goal. The Redskins improved to 3-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the SBC. Edison 16, Clyde 0 MILAN TWP. — Edison rolled past Clyde in Sandusky Bay Conference action to improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the SBC. BOYS GOLF Danbury 2nd at Ottawa Co. tourneyOREGON — Danbury shot a 342 to finish second at the Ottawa County tournament at Eagles Landing. Genoa won with a 319 and Port Clinton was fifth with a 388. Danbury's Frankie Kovach finished third among individuals with an 82. The Lakers' Evan Sandvick and Mason Kihlken tied for sixth at 86. Genoa's Benjamin Routson was medalist with a 73. Genoa's Colby Ralston was second with a 77. Derek Holly led PC with an 89. GIRLS GOLF Edison wins Bay shootout HURON — Edison shot a 189 to win a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division shootout at Thunderbird Hills. The Chargers' Annabelle Seville shot a 37 to win medalist honors. Three golfers — Huron's Ashtyn Spooner, Edison's Leah Sharp and Margaretta's Ellyse Schaefer — tied for second at 40. Huron's Lindsay Wainwright finished sixth with a 44. Port Clinton's Lillie Fox was seventh at 46. Huron finished second in the team competition with a 203, one shot ahead of Margaretta and Willard. PC was fifth (225) and Vermilion finished sixth (236). Lakers' Evans 2nd at county tourney OREGON — Danbury's Miranda Evans shot a 93 to finish second at the Ottawa County tournament at Eagles Landing. The Lakers' Ashley Lewis shot a 99 to finish fourth. Genoa's Madi Mahler was medalist with a 90. Genoa won the four-team event by shooting a 397. Danbury was second at 402. Norwalk 201, Mansfield Madison 235 NORWALK — Emerson Ulery led the Truckers with a 49, lifting Norwalk to a non-league win. Evelyn Welschenbach added a 50 while Adyson Lepley and Catherine Beamer each carded a 51.
