3 area teams receive votes in first volleyball poll

Three area teams received votes in the first Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll of the 2025 season. Huron, in Division V, and Monroeville and St. Paul, in Division VII, were mentioned in the receiving votes category, just outside of the top 10. Huron is 7-3 this season after going 1-2 at the rugged Gilmour Academy Invitational last weekend. One of the Tigers' losses was in three sets (best 2-of-3 format) to two-time defending state champion Mentor Lake Catholic. The Tigers visit Clyde on Tuesday before hosting Edison on Thursday in a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division matchup. Huron is 2-0 in the Bay. Huron already has wins this season against Tiffin Columbian, Norwalk, Notre Dame Academy, Perkins and Willard. Monroeville is 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the Firelands Conference. The Eagles host St. Paul in a big early-season Firelands matchup Tuesday. The Flyers are 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the Firelands. Tiffin Calvert, which has dominated the SBC River Division in recent years, is the top-ranked team in Division VII. Other No. 1-ranked teams in the first poll include Seton (Div. I), Anthony Wayne (Div. II), Bloom-Carroll (Div. III), Cincinnati McNicholas (Div. IV), Adena (Div. V) and New Bremen (Div. VI).
