Firelands spotlights volunteer Jae Hong

SANDUSKY — For September, Firelands Health placed its monthly volunteer spotlight on Jae Hong. She's been a volunteer for six years, beginning her service in the gift shops in 2019. Originally from Hamyang, South Korea, she moved to Sandusky with her husband, Dr. Young Kyu Hong. Hong and her husband have three children and four grandchildren. They are spread across the globe: from Toledo to Thousand Oaks, California, and Shanghai, China. Hong especially loves connecting with them through FaceTime when they aren't visiting. In her free time, Hong enjoys yoga, cooking, decorating, golfing and gardening. "She is also an active member in her church where she serves as a deacon and assists with hospitality, often preparing delicious meals for her fellow parishioners," according to a health care organizational statement, adding how "Jae's favorite part of volunteering at Firelands is the opportunity to pay it forward." Hong truly finds great joy in helping others. "Firelands is such a nice place to volunteer," Hong said. "It has such a good environment." The statement ended with deep appreciation expressed toward Hong. "Thank you, Jae, for your kindness, warmth and continued dedication to Firelands Health," it read. "We are truly grateful for all that you do."
