Dickman ready to serve school

GREEN SPRINGS — Those with Clyde-Green Springs Schools are publicizing the school resource officers who protect and serve students along with staff members at all district buildings. Most recently, it featured Green Springs police Chief Amy Dickman. She also serves as Green Springs Elementary School's resource officer. The district recently posted some biographical information about her: • Her experience in law enforcement: 13 • Her joy working with students: "Because of their young age, I have the chance to make a positive impression early on. Many times, kids are told negative things about law enforcement without really knowing why. I love being able to break that stigma at a formative age and help build trust that will hopefully carry into adulthood. • Her favorite school subjects: English and music • Her least favorite school subject: Math • Her hobbies: "Working out, gardening, reading and spending time with my family" • Her challenges in this role: "Sometimes students hear negative things about police due to experiences their families may have had. I address this by showing the humanity in law enforcement and teaching that choices in life can make or break you. Sometimes protecting and serving also means showing grace and kindness on someone's bad day." • Fun facts about her: "I'm the youngest of five and the only girl. I have four amazing sons. I hold degrees in education, reading and performance."
