Community tees up for heath care, safety services

HURON TWP. — Family Health Services will host its third-annual golf scramble on Sept. 11 at Plum Brook Country Club in the Sandusky area. The event brings together golfers, local leaders and area businesses for a day of competition and community connection all in support of expanded health care access and emergency services. Organized in partnership with American Legion Post 83 and Fisher-Titus, this year's tournament will raise funds for two causes: • Proceeds will support Family Health Services' prenatal program, which provides risk assessments, health education and therapeutic care to expectant mothers. • A portion of the funds will also benefit local first responders, "continuing a tradition of honoring their service and commitment to the community," according to an organizational statement. "Family Health Services plays a vital role in strengthening the well-being of our community," Perkins police Chief Jeff Musser said. "Their commitment to accessible health care and support services directly enhances the quality of life for families in Perkins Township and across Erie County," he added. "As chief of police, I recognize the importance of strong partnerships like this. When families are healthy, our entire community is safer and stronger." Family Health Services has presented more than $18,000 to local emergency response teams from proceeds of the past two tournaments.
