Optometrist offers gratitude

FREMONT — Many locals are congratulating those affiliated with the Mark A. Mathews optometrist office, which will close its downtown Fremont office, on East State Street, soon. "We are grateful for the positive impact they've had on countless families, friends and neighbors in downtown Fremont," according to a statement from Downtown Fremont Inc., which referenced Mathews and his staff: Anita Printy and Cheri Saller. The corporation wished "them continued health and happiness in this next chapter." The three penned a joint letter to their patients: This letter is to inform you of the upcoming closure of our practice by the end of 2025. We have gratefully served and cared for our neighbors, families and friends in Fremont for the last 42 years. We now feel that our time and attention is needed elsewhere. It has been our honor to be your eye care provider. The trust and loyalty that you have placed in us over the years have never gone unnoticed and have always been appreciated. To insure the continuation of your eyecare, Dr. Tom Meade (optometrist) has agreed to assume patient care and custody of records at 1114 E. State St. Thank you, again, for allowing our family to be part of your eyecare journey. Continued health and happiness.
