PREP ROUNDUP: Bellevue, Edison, Clyde win SBC golf shootouts

CLYDE — Bellevue shot a 157 to win a Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division boys golf shootout at Green Hills Golf Course on Thursday. Blake Sutherland led the Redmen with an even-par 35. Jackson Decker (37) and Sam Cooper (39) also finished in the top five for Bellevue. Columbian freshman Kyle Hepp was medalist with a 1-under 34. Perkins was second with a 162, followed by Columbian (170), Clyde (172) and Norwalk (176). Kyle Schaefer led the Pirates with a 37, good for a tie for third. Perkins' Josh Cummings tied for fifth at 39. GIRLS GOLF Edison wins by 2 strokes PERKINS TWP. — Edison shot a 203 to edge Margaretta (205) in a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division shootout at Woussickett Golf Course. Edison's Annabelle Seville was medalist with a 38. The Chargers' Leah Sharp was eighth with a 51. Margaretta's Ellyse Schaefer was second with a 42. The Polar Bears' Ellaynah Schaefer shot a 50. Huron's Ashtyn Spooner was third at 45 and led the Tigers to a third-place team finish at 214. Port Clinton's Lillie Fox and Vermilion's Allison Smith tied for fifth at 50. Host Clyde wins Lake shootout CLYDE — Clyde won a Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division shootout at Green Hills, shooting a 188. The Fliers placed three girls in the top six: Samantha Young (42, second) and Claire Collins and Sienna Turner (47, tied for fourth). Norwalk finished second at 196. Perkins was third with a 200, followed by Bellevue (206) and Columbian (212). Perkins' Ireland Hart was medalist with a 39. Norwalk's Adyson Lepley was third (46) and Bellevue's Addison Miller tied for fourth at 47. VOLLEYBALL Perkins 3, Sandusky 0 PERKINS TWP. — Perkins swept Sandusky 25-18, 25-6, 25-21 in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division action. Micah Slay led the Pirates (5-3, 2-0 SBC Lake) with 15 kills. Avery Maldonado had 10 digs and Avisi Geholt added four aces for the Pirates. Norwalk 3, Clyde 0 CLYDE — Norwalk swept Clyde 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 to improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division. Ainslee King led the Truckers with 11 kills. Emily Tyler had 25 assists and Sawyer Wineman finished with 19 digs. Clyde dropped to 3-6, 0-2. Columbian 3, Bellevue 2 TIFFIN — Columbian pulled off a reverse sweep against Bellevue to improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division. Bellevue won the first two sets — 25-21, 25-22 — before the Tornadoes responded with sets wins of 25-21, 25-14 and 15-11. The Lady Red dropped to 6-3, 1-1. Edison 3, Vermilion 1 MILAN TWP. — Edison rallied to defeat Vermilion 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division. Stella Brown had 19 points serving (five aces) and 15 digs for the Chargers while Taylor Moore had 28 digs and eight points. Paige McFadden added 10 assists and six points for Edison. Dana Preston topped the Chargers with nine kills while picking up six digs. Ella Booth had eight kills and eight digs while Peyton Bissell contributed nine assists and five points. Faith Sergent had 14 kills to lead the Sailors (2-6, 0-2). Delaney Russell had 25 digs and Lauren Logsdon added 16 assists for Vermilion. Monroeville 3, South Central 0 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles won 25-13, 25-16, 25-23 in Firelands Conference play. Alexa Adams tallied 10 digs, nine kills and three aces for Monroeville (6-2, 4-0 FC) while Ady Adams, Madi Reiber and Gabby Loose each smacked seven kills. Addison Homan led the Eagles' defense with 25 digs. Maddy Miller registered 17 digs and Kaci Poths had 11 digs and eight assists for Monroeville. Addison Lyons tallied 14 assists and Rachel Fries had 10 digs for the Eagles. St. Paul 3, Plymouth 0 NORWALK — The Flyers cruised to a 25-9, 25-13, 25-13 win in Firelands Conference play. Annie Friend had 21 assists and five aces for St. Paul (4-1, 4-0). Ella Kalizewski registered six digs, five kills and four aces for the Flyeres. Brooklyn Cassidy and Aubrie Bogard each added four kills, while Lily Cuturic and Kate Stieber each had six digs. St. Paul visits Monroeville on Tuesday in the first of two big conference matches against the Eagles. SJCC 3, Danbury 0 FREMONT — The Crimson Streaks swept Danbury 25-22, 25-16, 25-15 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division play. Lauren Bergman led the Lakers (3-7, 2-3 SBC River) with 24 digs while Cali Wunder had 13 assists. Grace McDonald lined seven kills for Danbury.
