Time's up for Frozen Tiki

SANDUSKY — It's a bittersweet end for a beloved ice cream stand popping up during the past few summers on Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky. "We have struggled with how to share the news, but here it is: This season will be our last season," according to a recent post from Linda Carroll, who owns and operates The Frozen Tiki with her husband, Sean. Linda and Sean debuted their joint venture in June 2020, mere days after city officials publicly unveiled the pier's major makeover. It's not known exactly when The Frozen Tiki will serve its last ice cream from the pier. "We want to plan a thank you for all our wonderful customers, so stay tuned for that one," Linda said. "We are excited for the next chapter and look forward to chasing more sunsets." Hearing from them Both Linda and Sean shared some sentiments about their ice cream stand. Linda "Those of you who know Sean and I know how much we love our city. We are so honored to have had a part in the pier for the last six years. This little ice cream cart has introduced us to some amazing people, some of whom are now lifelong friends. We have watched your kids grow up in front of us. It has been a privilege that we will never forget or take for granted. Oh, the sunsets we have witnessed, and we have become addicted to them — nothing better than a Jackson Street Pier sunset. We are excited for the next chapter and look forward to having more sunsets." Sean "We are just getting older. We said when we started, if it ever stopped being fun, we were going to stop. We had such a great run. We played a tiny little part in the Jackson Street Pier resurgence. We made so many friends doing it, and we couldn't be more grateful, but we knew it was just time to pass the torch. With all the weird weather this summer and the really big events, it really wore us down. We just want to be regular people, hang out, do summer things we always did pre-tiki. We are only given so much time in life, and, as we approach turning 60 in a couple of years, we have just decided we want to spend our time in the summer with our friends doing stuff we always enjoyed. We are hoping to pass it off to someone who is younger, has the same love for the city and same drive to keep what we started six summers ago going."
