Bellevue inducts new hall of fame class

BELLEVUE — The Bellevue High School Sports Hall of Fame inducted three new members last Saturday. Kelly (Beamer) FoOs, Matt Rowland and Carly Santoro-Antle were inducted and Dean Frisch and Jacob Schnee were presented with Big Red Service Awards. Foos, a 2006 Bellevue graduate, earned seven varsity letters in track and field and basketball. She was a state pole vault champion as a senior. In basketball, Foos helped the Lady Red to Northern Ohio League, sectional and district championships as a freshman and a sectional title as a sophomore. Foos was a four-time Northern Ohio League pole vault champion and was state runner-up as a junior, clearing 11 feet. As a senior, she was Huron Invitational MVP and pole vault champion and set records at the district and regional meets. She cleared 11 feet, 9 inches to set the state meet and Division II girls pole vault record. Foos attended The University of Findlay on a pole vault scholarship. She and her husband, J.J., reside in Bellevue with their two children, Aubrey (11) and Landry (7). She is the owner of Forget-Me-Not Flowers & Gifts in uptown Bellevue. Rowland, a 2013 graduate, won three straight state pole vault championships, clearing 16-1 as a junior and 15-9 as a senior. Rowland finished third at the New Balance Indoor Championships and earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish at the outdoor meet. His vault of 16-6 became an OHSAA Division II state record. He won four straight NOL pole vault titles and also was a talented sprinter and hurdler. He helped the Redmen win the NOL team title in 2012. Rowland placed third in the 110 hurdles at state as a senior and holds the career points record at BHS with 1,020. Rowland was a four-time All-MAC honoree at the University of Akron. He won indoor and outdoor MAC championships in 2016, and was Division I All-American honorable mention that year. He ranks fifth all-time at Akron with a vault of 17-7. Matt and his wife, Bailey, reside in Bellevue with their son, Mac. He is employed at Rowland Farms in Bellevue. Santoro-Antle, a 2015 graduate, earned nine varsity letters — one in tennis, four in basketball and four in softball. In softball, Santoro-Antle was All-NOL first team as a freshman, junior and senior. She led the NOL in home runs and RBI as a freshman, and in home runs and batting average as a junior and senior. The Lady Red won the NOL in 2014 and 2015. The four-time All-Ohio girls basketball honoree scored a school-record 2,387 career points and led the Lady Red to runner-up regional finishes in 2013 and 2014. Santoro-Antle led Bowling Green State University in scoring as a sophomore and junior and was team MVP both years. She transferred to Ohio State and was team captain as a senior and led the Buckeyes in scoring. Carly and her husband, Chase, reside in Grove City. She is an intervention specialist and head girls basketball coach at Dublin Coffman High School.
