Magic event raising money for Alzheimer's Association

SANDUSKY — The Commons of Providence, a community dedicated to compassionate care, will present "Magic & Moonlight." It's "a captivating evening of illusion and laughter, featuring award-winning Cleveland magician Michael Mage," according to an event statement. The event — scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at The Commons of Providence, 5000 Providence Drive, Sandusky — aims to raise vital funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. "As caregivers, The Commons of Providence team witnesses daily the profound challenges faced by individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and their families," the statement read. "This deep understanding fuels their commitment to making a meaningful impact," it added. "The 'Magic & Moonlight' event is a powerful demonstration of their dedication with all proceeds supporting the Alzheimer's Association's mission to fund crucial research, provide essential support to families and, ultimately, improve the lives of those affected by this devastating disease." Debra Moran, of the Commons, shared the following: "As caregivers, we have the privilege of working with many individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Each day, we witness the challenges they face, and it inspires us to make a meaningful impact. The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is a cause we take great pride in. We care for people living with Alzheimer's daily." Moran then shared a deeply personal connection to the cause. "My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's," Moran said. "Working at The Commons has filled the void that I felt after losing my mom. I feel like I make a difference in someone's life. I walk to the end to support the memory of my mom and others who have lost their loved ones." Christine Riley, another member of The Commons of Providence team, said,"I participate in the fundraising for Alzheimer's because my dad had Lewy Body Dementia. I enjoy being part of The Commons Crew (team) because the people that are part of this group support each other and are willing to do the work to raise money for this cause. Everyone has the drive and dedication to raise money for this so this horrible disease can possibly be put to an end." Before the "Magic & Moonlight" event, The Commons of Providence will be actively participating in the Erie Shores Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday at Jackson Street Pier in Sandusky, "further solidifying their commitment to the fight against Alzheimer's," the statement read. "'Magic & Moonlight' promises an unforgettable evening," it read. "Step into the tent and immerse yourself in the magic of Michael Mage, a two-time award-winning Cleveland magician. Known for being "50% magician, 50% comedian and 100% unique", Michael's quirky personality and Interactive style are sure to delight audiences of all ages. Employees invite people to attend the event, noting how their presence "will directly contribute to the vital efforts of the Alzheimer's Association, helping to bring hope and support to countless individuals and families." Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple. Beyond the show, people can also receive access to a cocktail hour with charcuterie and hors d'oeuvres as well as a prime rib buffet dinner.
