PORT CLINTON • Port Clinton Schools announced its Excellent Teacher Award winners. Last spring, 69 nominations were submitted by staff, students, community members and others. Three teachers were selected from each of the buildings. Here are the recipients: — Bataan Memorial Primary: Tiffany Barnhill, Kelly Fahle and Adam Siefke — Bataan Memorial Intermediate: Dan Periat, Brett Reineck and Matt Solomon — Port Clinton Middle School: Jen Amos, Abigail Dornbusch Huston and Emily Stamm-Kolb — Port Clinton High School: Brooke Harvey, Allison Lind and Diane Rosiar WILLARD CONSERVATION LEAGUE • Landon Stein was awarded the 2025 Willard Conservation League/Gary Click Family $2,000 Scholarship. Stein will attend Ashland College. FIRELANDS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE • Firelands Electric Cooperative will select 25 high school students to attend the third annual Cooperative Youth Day, a free, day-long charter bus trip to the Ohio Statehouse on Oct. 23. Any high school-aged student in the Firelands Electric Cooperative's service territory — Ashland, Huron, Lorain or Richland counties — is eligible. Applications are available online at the cooperative's website and are due by Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. More information and photos from last year's trip are also available online. EHOVE • EHOVE Career Center congratulated Hunter Chandley from the criminal justice program on his recent graduation from basic training. Chandley did a split option training so he could join the Ohio National Guard and complete his training to be a 12B combat engineer after he graduates. TEEN AMBASSADOR BOARD • The office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is accepting applications for Yost's Teen Ambassador Board. Selected members serve for a year-long term and meet twice in Columbus where they work with and advise the office on what teens care about. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 12 with a recommendation from a teacher, coach or community member. More information, applications and recommendation forms are available on the attorney general's website. PERKINS • Seniors at Perkins School came to school early to watch the sunrise at the stadium. NEW LONDON • Seniors at New London Schools painted their parking lot spots.
