KKK, go away

Does the person who left flyers seeking new KKK members in a Norwalk neighborhood have their speech protected by the First Amendment? Yes. But spreading those disgusting, hateful views in our community is something we have to decry in the strongest possible terms. Since the literature ("KKK flyers left on lawns," Aug. 25, 2025 Norwalk Reflector and Sandusky Register) was left in several areas of Norwalk, including on Grove Street, police have attempted to identify who left the flyers and determine if any crime was committed. It's part of a troubling trend we've seen in other parts of Ohio, like Sandusky and Findlay, where in both instances an anonymous individual left white supremacist writings on local residents' properties. Enough division, hate and violence exists in the world today. We try to live our lives in our neck of Ohio free of as much of that as possible, especially in the neighborhoods we reside and try to live a peaceful existence. The flyer itself attempted to foment anger at what it deemed the erosion of Christian values and turn it against the alleged sources of that — politicians, courts, illegal immigrants and transgender individuals. It's incredibly discouraging to see someone propagating this kind of hatred in the neighborhoods we call home. Keep this nonsense out of our communities — full stop.
