Celebrate literacy, lost amusement parks at library

HURON — From storytimes and book clubs to health screenings and tech workshops, there's something for everyone at the Huron Public Library next month. The library, 333 Williams St., is hosting a lineup of programs and events for September, celebrating literacy, community engagement and lifelong learning. Among some featured events: • Ohio's Lost Amusement Parks — At 6 p.m. on Sept. 11, take a journey through Ohio's amusement park history, including Euclid Beach Park, Crystal Beach Park and Idora Park. • Coffee & Conversations withHuron Township Trustees — From 10-11 a.m. on Sept. 20, enjoy coffee and chat with local government officials. • STEAM Team Family Science Fair — At 4 p.m. on Sept. 24, the Mad Science of Northeast Ohio presents Fire and Ice, a fun and interactive science show for all ages. • Book-to-Movie Viewing: "Fried Green Tomatoes" — At 5 p.m. on Sept. 24, watch the movie and discuss the book. Reading the book is optional. • Introduction to AI — At 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, learn the basics of artificial intelligence and how to spot it online. Registration is required. Additional programming includes: • Weekly babies and toddler time • Storytimes for preschoolers and families • Mahjong Mondays, senior stretch and Scrabble Fridays • Crochet club, art club and Girls Who Code • Book clubs including mystery book group, romance book club, real reads and the book exchange book club People can learn more and register for certain events by visiting huronlibrary.org.
