PREP ROUNDUP: Perkins knocks off Columbian in SBC Lake opener

PERKINS TWP. — In a back-and-forth affair, the Perkins volleyball team came out on top against Tiffin Columbian, knocking off the Tornadoes 25-20, 13-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11, in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division play Thursday. Micah Slay (four aces) and Ferrell Coleman (two blocks) each clobbered 16 kills for the Pirates (4-2, 1-0 SBC Lake). Braelyn Davie registered 45 assists, 13 digs and four aces while Avery Maldonado led the defense with 27 digs. Huron 3, Port Clinton 0 HURON — Huron took care of business in its Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division opener, defeating Port Clinton 25-10, 25-7, 25-7. Mya Smith led the Tigers (3-1, 1-0 SBC Bay) with 10 kills while Paige Johnson had nine kills. Taylor Wlodarsky was 17-of-18 serving with 14 points, Maggie Orzech was 15-of-16 serving with 14 points and six aces and Reece Hotz was 14-of-15 serving with 12 points. Hotz was also 58-of-58 setting with 31 assists and 11 digs. Adelyn Van Sickle paced Huron with 15 digs. Ella Carmon registered three kills for the Redskins (1-5, 0-1) while Marissa Frohne added two aces. Danbury 3, SMCC 0 LAKESIDE — The Lakers defeated St. Mary Central Catholic 25-19, 25-16, 25-12 in Sandusky Bay Conference River Division play. Allison Lill had nine kills, four service points and three digs for SMCC (1-5, 0-4 SBC River). Finley Karr tallied 15 assists. Edison 3, Margaretta 0 MILAN TWP. — The Chargers improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 win over Margaretta. Ella Booth led Edison with nine kills while serving for six points. Peyton Bissell had 13 assists and six points, Taylor Moore tallied 12 digs, Stella Brown had 11 points (three aces) and seven digs and Paige McFadden added eight points and six assists. Willard 3, Vermilion 1 VERMILION — Willard slipped past the Sailors 25-27, 25-21, 25-15, 25-15, in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action. Sophie Habermehl led Vermilion (1-4, 0-1 SBC Bay) with 16 kills while Elizabeth Okasinski had eight kills. Lauren Logsdon tallied 18 assists, 15 digs and five kills, Delaney Russell had 26 digs and Elyse Myntti added 14 assists. Habermehl added 17 digs for the Sailors. Monroeville 3, W. Reserve 0 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles took down Western Reserve 27-25, 25-19, 25-12, in Firelands Conference action. Madi Reiber paced Monroeville (4-2, 3-0 FC) with 16 kills while Ady Adams had nine kills. Addison Homan paced the defense with 25 digs, Addison Lyons had 19 assists and nine digs, Kaci Poths recorded 14 assists, nine digs and six aces and Maddy Miller contributed 10 digs. St. Paul 3, S. Central 0 GREENWICH — The Flyers improved to 3-0 overall and in the Firelands Conference with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 win over South Central. Ella Kalizewski finished with 15 kills, nine blocks and five digs to pace the Flyers. Brooklyn Cassidy had eight kills and four blocks while Shealyn Deeter added six kills. Kegney Stoll was 20-for-21 serving with 14 points and two aces while Lily Cuturic added 18 digs. Norwalk 3, Sandusky 0 NORWALK — The Truckers cruised past Sandusky, 25-15, 25-6, 25-8, in their Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division opener. Emily Tyler finished 14-for-16 serving with two aces and also had 23 assists to pace Norwalk (2-2, 1-0 SBC Lake). Sawyer Wineman had 13 digs. Also for Norwalk, Maddie Gamble had seven kills and Ainslee King had four. Bella Hernandez added four blocks. BOYS GOLF Findlay 173, Norwalk 184 NORWALK — Emytt Graffice tallied a 42, but the Truckers came up short against Findlay. Jarrett Scheid added a 46 for Norwalk while Caleb Thompson, Avery Reitzel and Luke Metcalf each shot a 48. BOYS SOCCER Vermilion 5, Mansfield Senior 4 MANSFIELD — Brady Parker scored three goals to lift the Sailors to a non-league win over Mansfield Senior.
