Sandusky man pleads guilty to possessing child porn

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky man recently pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. At a court hearing on Aug. 18, Brian K. Blatt, 59, 1100 block Erie Blvd., pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, each a second-degree felony. Blatt pleaded guilty to three charges in exchange for 10 additional counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, each a second-degree felony, and one count of possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony, to be dismissed. Both the prosecution and Blatt's lawyers have agreed to a recommended sentence of five to seven-and-a-half years in prison without judicial release. It will ultimately be a judge's decision whether or not to follow that recommendation, and the maximum sentence that could possibly be imposed is 24-to-28 years. He will additionally be classified as a Tier 2 sex offender, which means that he must verify home and work addresses every six months for 25 years, according to Blatt's guilty plea form. Blatt is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. Blatt was initially indicted by an Erie County grand jury in May. According to Blatt's indictment, the crimes occurred between July 2024 and December 2024, when he downloaded "obscene material" that depicted children engaging in sexual activity.
