PREP ROUNDUP: Seville, Edison win Perkins invite

PERKINS TWP. — Edison edged Perkins by six strokes to win the Perkins Invitational on Wednesday at Plum Brook Country Club. The Chargers shot a 407 and runner-up Perkins carded a 413. Edison junior Annabelle Seville won medalist honors with a 5-over-par 76. Seville bounced back from a quadruple bogey 8 on the fourth hole and carded five birdies in her round. "I'm very proud of Annabelle after having a blow-up hole," Edison coach Shayne Fischer said. "Last year it would have affected her, but she showed nice mental fortitude and made four birdies after that." Fremont St. Joseph's Ryan Dickman and Ashland's Elleni Miller tied for second with 85s. Only eight golfers broke 100 on the challenging Plum Brook layout. Perkins' Ireland Hart was fourth with a 91 and Huron's Ashtyn Spooner was fifth at 93. Clyde Samantha Young shot a 98 and Norwalk's Evelyn Welschenbach carded a 99. Rounding out Edison's scorecard were Leah Sharp (101), Ella Rogers (115) and Lilly Davis (115). Also scoring for Perkins were Lucy Miller (100), Maycee Bohn (103) and Aubrey Ransom (119). Ashland finished third at 417. Norwalk (427) and Huron (446) rounded out the top five. St. Paul 222, Port Clinton 245 PORT CLINTON — Aubrey Dilger fired a 51, leading the Flyers to a non-conference win at Catawba Island Club. Alia Bogard added a 52 for St. Paul while Ava Englert shot a 56. Lillie Fox led Port Clinton with a 53. BOYS GOLF Morris fires a 33 in Bay shootout HURON — Margaretta's Keiygan Morris shot a 3-under 33 to win medalist honors at a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division shootout at Thunderbird Hills South. Morris started his round with an eagle 3 on No. 1 and helped the Polar Bears finish third in the team standings with a 162. Willard won with a 154, followed by Vermilion (156), Margaretta, Huron (171), Edison (181) and Port Clinton (203). Adler Ames shot a 36 to lead Willard. Adam Gerber and Noah Penton each carded 37s for Vermilion. Luke Barton (39) and Grant Humphrey (40) led Huron white Hayden Lewis shot 41 for Edison. St. Paul 205, Plymouth 210 NORWALK — Connor Polachek carded a 41, lifting the Flyers to the Firelands Conference win at Eagle Creek. Freshman Mason Beatty added a 45 for St. Paul while Tristan Schlachter fired a 56. BOYS SOCCER Perkins 20, Clyde 1 PERKINS TWP. — Perkins rolled past Clyde to improve to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference. Matetusz Dixon led the Pirates with four goals and four assists. Kaden Camp added three goals and three assists while Kannyn Henson, Jackson Cassidy, Garrett Corso and Grant Hickman each scored two goals. Ryan Wells finished with four assists. The Pirates host Port Clinton next Wednesday. Norwalk 12, Sandusky 0 NORWALK — Elliot Gahring scored three goals and had two assists to help Norwalk shut out Sandusky in Sandusky Bay Conference action. Landon Ferkel and Kingston Gonzales each added two goals for the Truckers (2-2, 2-0 SBC). Huron 2, Willard 1 WILLARD — Joey Cencer scored on a loose ball in the box on a corner kick to lift Huron (1-3, 1-1 SBC) past Willard. After Willard grabbed a 1-0 lead, Huron's Peter Cencer scored on a header off a Carter Brennan corner kick to tie the match. Port Clinton 3, Old Fort 3 PORT CLINTON — Casey Brand had two goals and assist to help Port Clinton tie Old Fort 3-3 in a Sandusky Bay Conference matchup. Charles Cutcher scored one goal for the Redskins (1-2-1) and Lincoln Beasley had an assist.
