Fremont firefighter arrested on child porn charge

FREMONT — A Fremont city official confirmed the arrest of a city firefighter who allegedly possessed child pornography. City officials were notified on Thursday of the arrest of city firefighter Brandon R. Mosher, 36, of the 1400 block of Township Road 973, Ashland, according to a news release issued Friday from the City of Fremont. The city's safety service director, Kenneth Frost, said that Mosher's arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Ashland County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Court records do not indicate the date of Mosher's arrest; however, he was booked into the Ashland County Jail on one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, a second-degree felony. The alleged crimes took place on or about Sept. 1, 2020, through Aug. 21, 2025, when he allegedly downloaded and viewed "obscene material" that depicted a minor as one of its participants, according to a criminal complaint. "Upon notification, the city took immediate action in accordance with Ohio law and internal policy," Frost wrote. "We are continuing to review the matter and remain committed to taking all necessary steps on behalf of the city." Mosher was scheduled to have a court hearing on Friday afternoon. It is unclear if he was given a bond or entered a plea, according to court records.
