Man arrested for sexual assault

PERKINS TWP. — On Wednesday night, Perkins police officers helped arrest a man wanted out of Texas for allegedly sexually assaulting a child. Local authorities first became involved in the search after the Texas Department of Public Safety asked the Ohio State Highway Patrol Special Response Team for help in tracking down the suspect, who was believed to be in the area, according to a Facebook post. The man, whose name was not provided in the post, was identified as Hayden P. Moody, with no age or address listed, according to Erie County Jail records. Once troopers learned Moody was in the area, they developed a plan to arrest him, and Perkins police took him into custody without incident. "This case highlights the strong partnerships between local, state and out-of-state law enforcement agencies working together to protect our communities," the post states. "We are proud of the teamwork demonstrated and the dedication of our night-shift officers who played a vital role in bringing this fugitive into custody."
