Hustlers say goodbye to Stewart

A part of the Erie County 4-H youth development network, the Oxford Hustlers 4-H Club organization — an area covering children who live all across Erie County and meet in Oxford Township — teaches leadership, citizenship and life skills. OXFORD TWP. —The Oxford Hustlers 4-H Club, a club that meets in Oxford Township and includes members from Erie County, ended the 2025 4-H year with their final meeting on Aug. 9. Kids in the club took a lot of projects to this year's fair, such as welding, woodworking, sewing, cake decorating, cooking, photography, art, furniture recycling, personal finance and fishing. Members also brought a variety of animals to this year's fair, including goats, cows, rabbits, pigs, sheep, quail, ducks, turkeys and chickens. This year, the Oxford Hustlers had one graduating member, Owen Stewart, who received a $1,000 scholarship from the club. Stewart has been in the club for 14 years. His favorite project was the "You're the Athlete Project," and his least favorite was the bug-collecting project. Stewart said his favorite 4-H memory was "launching my army green bottle rocket into a field and then spending an hour and a half searching for it. It was totally worth it." Stewart participated in the Academy Experience at Perkins High School, working with real estate agents and plans to use his scholarship toward starting a career in real estate investment. The Oxford Hustlers also talked at their last meeting about the success of their ice cream booth during the fair. Sales were high, especially people buying milkshakes. Because of the success of the ice cream booth this year, the club voted to donate money to various nonprofits: • The Humane Society of Erie County • St. John's United Church of Christ in Oxford Township where the club meets • Various other causes important to 4-H members The club wants to thank everyone in the community who stopped by and supported them at their ice cream booth. Everyone is already looking forward to the 2026 4-H year.
