Check out library's culture pass program

MILAN — The Milan-Berlin Library District recently announced the official launch of its culture pass program at the Milan Public Library. "This exciting initiative is a free service offering community members the chance to discover uniquely Ohioan adventures via access kits to a selection of area museums, historical societies and nature and animal attractions," according to a district statement. Patrons must be 18 years or older with a library card in good standing to check out a pass, and only one pass may be borrowed at a time. Culture pass kits may be checked out for three days and include at least two adult and two child entrances to each location along with an informational brochure pertaining to the destination. The following culture passes are available: • Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum — pass for two adults, three children • Firelands Historical Society and Museum — pass for four individuals • Lagoon Deer Park — pass for two adults, two children • The Milan Museum — pass for two adults, two children • McKinley Presidential Library and Museum — pass for two adults and all children in a household younger than 21 • Merry-Go-Round Museum — pass for two adults, two children • Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museum — pass for two adults and all children in a household younger than 21 Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be placed on hold. The culture pass program was developed and curated by young adult librarian Katrina Schmitz and local history librarian Rebecca Daneker. "We are excited for this partnership with incredible Ohio museums and nature centers, Schmitz said. "Museums are near and dear to my heart, and I love providing our library patrons the chance to check out wonderful local institutions with our passes." Daneker added: "My hope with the culture pass program is to encourage patrons to explore the many interesting museums and attractions available here on the North Coast. Too often, we only patronize these types of places while traveling, but there's so much to discover close to home. And really, who doesn't love a field trip?"
