Firelands spotlights volunteer Dianna Acierto

SANDUSKY — For August, Firelands Health placed its monthly volunteer spotlight on Dianna Acierto. She began volunteering at Firelands Regional Medical Center's information desk in 2021. The Sandusky native lives with her husband, Richard. Together they've raised two children and are grandparents to five grandchildren. In her free time, Acierto enjoys reading, tackling Sudoku puzzles and exploring home design and landscaping projects. Acierto remains involved in many local organizations, including the College Women's Club and the Retired Teachers Association. "She brings with her a wealth of experience from a 42-year career in education, having served as both a teacher and curriculum director" at the school districts for Perkins and Edison, according to a health care organizational statement. Among Acierto's favorite parts of volunteering: reconnecting with former students and colleagues. "It brings her joy when past students recognize her from their fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms," the statement read. "She also treasures working alongside the information desk team, describing them as kind, compassionate and a pleasure to serve with." The statement ended with deep appreciation expressed toward Acierto. "Thank you, Dianna, for your unwavering commitment and the positivity you bring to Firelands Health," it read. "We are grateful for all you do."
