3 decades of service

NORWALK — Norwalk police Capt. Tom Cook is celebrating a milestone — 30 years of service with the department. He joined the department in 1995 and "exemplified what it means to serve with honor, integrity and commitment" to the city, according to a news release. Cook, a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College program, began as a patrol officer, was promoted to sergeant in 2006 and again to captain in 2022. In the past three decades, Cook has filled a variety of roles within the department, including: • Field training officer and supervisor of the program • Special response team operator and later team commander • Honor Guard member representing our department with pride and professionalism According to the department, he has also received "numerous commendations for his service" and was named Norwalk Police Officer of the Year in 1999 — a testament to his exceptional dedication in his career. The department reiterated its pride in Cook's leadership and fidelity to the community he serves. "Capt. Cook has continually demonstrated strong leadership and a steadfast commitment to public safety," the department wrote in a social media post.
