PREP ROUNDUP: Perkins boys win invite

FREMONT — Perkins shot a 323 to win the St. Joseph Central Catholic Boys Invitational on Friday at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. Josh Cummings led the Pirates with a 79, which was good for a tie for fourth place overall. Kyle Schaefer added an 80 for the Pirates. Colton Kelley carded an 81 and Zach Cummings had an 83 to help Perkins outdistance runner-up St. Mary Central Catholic (331). All four of Perkins' scorers finished in the top 11 individually in the 10-team field. SMCC's Blake Finneran shot an even-par 70 to continue piling up medalist honors this month. Joey Finneran shot an 84 for the Panthers. Leo Will fired an 88 while Pravir Gorty and Griffin Torrey each shot 89. Clyde was led by Connor Eastby, who shot an 85. The Fliers' team score was not posted. Willard wins Bay shootout VERMILION — Willard shot a 155 to win a Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division shootout at Willow Creek. The Crimson Flashes finished with a 155, outdistancing runner-up Margaretta by nine strokes. Willard's Mason Dawson was the medalist with a 35. Also scoring for the Flashes was Adler Ames (38), Kaleb Weaver (41) and Harrison Meisner (41). Phinneus Headley led Margaretta with a 39. Also scoring for the Bears was Aiyden Miller (40), Jaxson Bohn (42) and Julian Washington (43). Vermilion was third at 169, followed by Huron (176), Edison (179) and Port Clinton (213). The Sailors' Adam Gerber fired a 38 to tie for second overall. Landon Booker shot 42 for Vermilion. Paul Murray led Huron with a 41. Grant Humphrey added a 42. Hayden Lewis led Edison with a 41. Mason Hermes shot 45. Carter Thompson led Port Clinton with a 46. New London 166, Buckeye Central 181 NEW WASHINGTON — Brody Sword shot a 2-over 37 to lead New London to a 15-shot road victory at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. Also scoring for the Wildcats was Kade Detterman (42), Grady Heilman (43) and Logan Sword (44). GIRLS GOLF Danbury 3rd in River shootout TIFFIN — Danbury shot a 194 to place third in a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division shootout at Clinton Heights Golf Course. Old Fort (188) and Hopewell-Loudon (189) placed first and second. Miranda Evans and Ashley Lewis each shot 42 for the Lakers and tied for second among individuals. Charley Lenthe carded a 54 and Addison Rader rounded out Danbury's scoring with a 56. Fremont SJCC's Ryan Dickman shot a 2-over 37 to earn medalist honors. SMCC's Alexis Langenberg shot a 58. Norwalk 2nd at Tiffin invite TIFFIN — Adyson Lepley fired a 93, leading the Truckers to a second-place finish at the Tiffin Columbian Invitational at Clinton Heights Golf Course. Anthony Wayne won the event with a team total of 340. Norwalk was second with a 380 while Bellevue (390) was third, Clyde (418) was 11th, Perkins (420) was 12th, Margaretta (441) was 14th and Port Clinton (462) was 16th. Emerson Ulrey added a 94 for Norwalk while Catherine Beamer carded a 95. Ava Meyer paced Bellevue with a 90. Addison Miller added a 92 for the Lady Red. Samantha Young led Clyde with a 98. Ireland Hart topped Perkins with an 83 and Maycee Bohn shot a 99. Ellaynah Schaefer's 93 was best for Margaretta with Ellyse Schaefer shooting a 98. Lillie Fox carded a 95 for Port Clinton. Reese Bedingfield led Willard, which had three total golfers and didn't qualify for a team score, with a 94.
