High school football teams finish scrimmage season

The 2025 high school football season begins one week from Friday. But first, there are a few more scrimmages to play. The last area scrimmages of the preseason are scheduled for tonight, and the slate includes a matchup of 2024 state runners-up. The Friday lineup includes Sandusky hosting Bellevue at 7 p.m. Also, Perkins travels to Liberty Center, Norwalk welcomes in Shelby, Huron hosts Lake and Clyde hosts Kenton — all at 6 p.m. The Perkins-Liberty Center scrimmage is a matchup of two teams that played on the final day of the '24 season. The Pirates fell 37-36 to Indian Valley in the Division IV title game while Liberty Center lost 28-17 to Ironton in the Division V finale. Area high school football teams will take the field for Week 1 games one week from tonight. Only two area games feature matchups between two area teams: Bellevue at Clyde and Margaretta at Vermilion. Other Week 1 games: Perkins at Clear Fork, Sandusky at Amherst Steele (at Avon Lake), Firelands at Edison, McComb at Monroeville, Norwalk at Toledo Start, Oak Harbor at Huron and St. Mary Central Catholic at Cardinal Stritch.
