RECURRING EVENTS Sandusky • Boat Show: From 3–8 p.m. on Friday, noon – 8 p.m. on Saturday and noon – 6 p.m. on Sunday, at Paper District Marina, located at 611 W. Shoreline Drive. The event is open to the public and there is no admission cost. • Big Splash Raffle: From 5 – 9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday. The 21st Annual Dean Howman Memorial Big Splash Raffle is the Maritime Museum of Sandusky's annual fundraising event. Big Splash raffle tickets are $100. The Maritime Museum of Sandusky raffles off over a quarter of a million dollars in cash prizes, cars, motorcycles, and more. Friday night kicks off the fun with live music, food, beverages, side raffles and 50/50 drawings. Saturday is the main event, featuring cash prizes, cars, motorcycles and more. Food and beverages, huge 50/50s and side raffles continue all day with all proceeds support Maritime Museum of Sandusky. • After School Snacks: From 4-4:45 p.m. every weekday, the Sandusky Library will host snacktime for anyone under 18. Perkins Avenue, Unit A. Interested in aerial fitness? Want to work out in a cozy, non-gym environment? Stop by the art studio to try pole dancing, aerial silks, a balance beam or any other fitness equipment in a non-class structured fashion. An instructor will be on site for safety assurances and to answer questions. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. Cost to attend is $5. This weekly event is sponsored by the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and are free of charge. This week's performers will be the North Coast Concert Band. Bring your own seating. • Sit and Stitch: Beginning at 1 p.m., at the Erie County Senior Center, located at 620 E. Water Street. Do you crochet, knit or embroider? Bring your project and socialize with other stitcher while you make new friends. Open to anyone of all ages who wants to come learn. Registration is not required. • Sandusky Sunset Celebrations: From 8:20 -9:30 p.m., every Wednesday at Jackson Street Pier. This pilot program is more of a vibe than an event. Its an open invitation to all to gather at the water's edge and take in the beautiful lake view as the sun sets. Each week will feature a new musical act or performer to help set the mood. No registration is required and there is no cost to attend. • Breakfast Buddies: From 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., every Thursday, at the Campbell Christian Community Center, located at 1215 Campbell Street. Enjoy a free morning made just for parents, grandparents and their preschool or younger little ones. Each week features a fun theme with breakfast, fun crafts, hands-on activities, interactive storytimes, and free diapers and wipes to take home. There is no cost to attend. • Toddler Day: From noon to 4 p.m. every Thursday, Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, 3319 Milan Road, will offer free admission to its\ skate and play areas for children 5 and under. In the summertime, every Thursday, a large group gathers in downtown Sandusky for a leisurely bicycle ride around the city. All levels of riders are encouraged to attend. Fall victim to Pier Pressure with your community and trainers from local fitness centers for a FREE community workout every Saturday morning at 8 a.m., from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Participants will learn proper stretching, outdoor exercises and can walk or run at their own pace in downtown Sandusky along the various piers overlooking Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie. Open to all ages, but please leave your furry friends at home. Workouts will vary each week depending on fitness center and instructor assigned to each morning. Great for people of all fitness levels and experiences. Cost to attend is $5 and there is no pre-registration required. Experience electrifying nights with LED lights, lasers and high energy dance music spun by a live DJ. Dress in your favorite neon or glow-in-the-dark apparel. Jump passes start at $15, but there is no additional ticket cost to attend the Glow Party. • Wild Tuesdays: From 1 – 3 p.m., every Tuesday, at Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center, located at 255 Meechen Road. Come out to the beautiful nature center and enjoy hands-on education about nature, wildlife and animals at Put-in-Bay. This event is free and no registration is required. Huron • Mustard Mondays: From 10-11 a.m., at Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve and State Nature Preserve, located at 2514 Cleveland Road E. Help Stewardship staff remove invasive garlic mustard to help allow native plant species to grow and thrive. All gear provided, dress for the weather and meet at the visitor center. • Osborn MetroPark parkrun: Parkrun is a timed 5K walk/jog/run happening every Saturday at 9 a.m. at Osborn MetroPark, 3910 Perkins Ave. The event is free and open to all ages; people are welcome to bring their strollers or dogs. Registration is required and can be done at parkrun.us/register/. • Family Storytime: Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., the Huron Public Library, 333 Williams St., will host storytime with Miss Melissa. Enjoy a classic car show with upwards of 150 cars on display, with music, door prizes, and great family fun. The event is, presented by the Milan Chamber of Commerce and there is no charge to attend. Vermilion • Market in the Park: From 10 a.m – 2 p.m., every Saturday in the heart of downtown Vermilion. Every week features new vendors and new products to keep you coming back all summer. There's plenty of free parking next to and near the market. Within easy walking distance are lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy and just a few blocks north is Main Street Beach, with a great view of Lake Erie. This weekly event is a wonderful place to gather with friends and neighbors, a shady stop on a bike tour, or just a fun place to hangout as you begin your weekend. Gibsonburg • Preschool Storytime: At 11 a.m., the Gibsonburg Birchard Public Library, 100 N. Webster St., will host storytime for children ages 3-5. Visit birchard.org for more information. Fremont • Family Storytime: 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Birchard Public Library. Enjoy stories, songs and fun for the whole family. THURSDAY Berlin Heights • Sunflower Canvas Paint Night: From 6 – 8 p.m., at Quarry Hill Winery located at 8403 Mason Road #2. Have fun crafting a beautiful picture featuring a sunflower and wine on a canvas, lead by Robyn Highsmith from Art Parties. Admission is $40 per person plus a drink and one food item minimum. Fremont • Jam Session / Open Mic Night: From 6 – 9 p.m., at Fremont Community Amphitheater, located at 315 Garrison Street. Bring your voice, your instrument, your poetry and more. Have fun expressing yourself with like-minded others at the Fremont Community Amphitheater! This is a no registration required event that is free, and takes place rain or shine. Bring your cameras, chairs and blankets, and relax with a wonderful evening of entertainment. FRIDAY Put-in-Bay • Paddle at East Harbor State Park: From 9 –10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 – 3 p.m., at East Harbor State Park, located at 1169 N. Buck Road. Join H2Ohio for a beginner kayaking event. Participants will learn water safety before a 1.5 hour scenic paddle focused on water quality and habitat, with potential wildlife sightings. This program is beginner friendly and completely free. Meet at the kayak ramp near North Beach Parking Lot launch near the North Beach Parking lot. Space is limited and preregistration is required. All programs are subject to change or cancellation. Children must always be accompanied by an adult, be at least 10 years old and/or able to paddle on their own. Clyde • Soft Jazz Music Concert: From 6 – 8:30 p.m., at Clyde Museum located at 124 W. Buckeye Street. Enjoy a relaxing evening of soft jazz music by the Chris Buzzelli Trio, performed on the lawn of the museum. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating on the front lawn, or place a lawn chair on W. Buckeye Street, as the street will be closed for the concert that evening. A food truck will be on-site, serving a variety of hot food and cold drinks, including pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, French fries, mozzarella sticks, corn dogs, funnel cakes, and more. The concert is free to the public, however donations are encouraged but are not required. Port Clinton • Popsicle Sticks Fish: From 1 – 2 p.m., at Ida Rupp Public Library located at 310 Madison Street. Kids ages 5 –12 years old are invited to come to the library and embrace living by Lake Erie as they make adorable fish out of popsicle sticks. This craft will lets kids have a fun afternoon being creativity. No registration required and kids under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. SATURDAY Sandusky • Family Fun Day / Back to School Party: Beginning at 9 a.m., at Rhodes Marketplace located at 1148 Cleveland Road. The recurring family-fun event will center around the impending return to school for all the littles. There will be live music, clowns, face painting, tarot readers, crafts, games, cookie decorating and more. Hailz Healing Hands will also be offering chair massages for a small fee, and all vendors will be open to shop from. Admission to the event is free. • Book Signing: From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m, at Sandusky Book Bar, located at 2101 W. Perkins Avenue. Meet and greet with author Mark Bogner. His book "The Dreamweaver" will be available to purchase and be signed. There is no admission cost. Huron • Guided Hike Series: At Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve and State Nature Preserve, located at 2514 Cleveland Road East. Explore Old Woman Creek Reserve through our Guided Hike Series. Each hike will provide participants with a unique experience connecting with nature through learning and observation. This week's focus will be "Snake Spotting." Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times as recreation programs and activities can be dangerous. Any injury or property damage that occurs during a program or activity is not the responsibility of ODNR or its naturalist educators. Port Clinton • Third Annual Cool Cars Open House: From 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Bauman Auto Group, located at 625 S.E Catawba Road. All makes and models will be on display at this family-friendly, fun for all event. There will be a "people's choice" and "dealer choice" awards. There is free open registration at 9 a.m., for anyone wanting to participate, free coffee and doughnuts in the morning, with free hot dogs and pop at noon. Additionally, there will be giveaways throughout the day. The car show will be held rain or shine and there is no admission cost for attendees. Berlin Heights • Women Who Roam: From 9 – 10 a.m., at Hoffman Forest MetroPark, located at 5159 Huff Road. 'Women Who Roam" is a welcoming space for women of all ages to explore the outdoors together. The hikes offer a safe and supportive environment, perfect for meaningful conversations during journeys through nature. Connect, unwind, and discover the beauty of the natural world alongside a community of fellow adventurers. The event is for ages 18 or older. There is no cost to attend, and there is no pre-registration required. Fremont • Farmers Market & Things That Go Anniversary Event: From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in downtown Fremont on Front Street. The community's famous Farmers Market & Things That Go event is celebrating turning 20 years old with a special event that boasts fun for all. Sponsored by Total Distribution Inc and presented by Downtown Fremont Inc, the event will feature a car show plus the chance to get up close with all types of big vehicles. There will also be a live "I Spy" game and more than forty vendors to shop through. There is no cost to attend. • Ohio's Blue's, Brew's and Brats: From 5 – 10 p.m., at Fremont Community Amphitheater, located at 315 Garrison Street. Join the Rotary Club of Fremont for an epic night of live blues bands, ice-cold drinks, and mouthwatering brats – all in support of Rotary's youth and community projects. Musical acts include Chris Canas & The Sensational Soul Brothers Showband and Revue. Tickets just $17 at the door the day of the event. Catawba • Rock the Oast with Alt95: From 6 – 9 p.m., at Twi Oast Brewing Company, located at 3630 N.E. Spend your summer night with live music, delicious food and craft beer in the open air. Each event features a different artist or band, a rotating food truck, and lawn games for a laid-back evening with friends and family. Bring your lawn chairs, grab a pint and enjoy the evening. No tickets needed—just show up and enjoy the show. This week's band is pop-punk party band Alt95, performing hits fro the 90s and 2000s and food will be available from Big C's BBQ. SUNDAY Sandusky • Firelands Winery Rush to the Crush & Wine Sprint: From 9 – 11 a.m., at Firelands Winery, located at 917 Bardshar Road. The 4th Annual Rush to the Crush 5-Mile run and 2-Mile wine sprint is a benefit for Back to the Wild. The Firelands Winery run course is set on the country roads that border Firelands Winery, a section of the course does run along our vineyards. Cost to participate for both the run and sprint is $25. • Balsom, "Lucky's Lucky Day": From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Sandusky Book Bar, located at 2101 W. Perkins Avenue. To celebrate the release of "Lucky's Lucky Day!" by Balsom, join Sandusky Book Bar for a day of fun, games, prizes and saving pups just like Lucky. There will be a donation box and an adoption board, as well as a book signing, all in honor of National Dog Day, which is on Aug. 26. Marblehead • Halupki Festival: From 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., at Holy Assumption, located at 114 E. Main Street. Join for a day of fun, food and polka at the annual Halupki Festival. Dinners and a la carte of tasty homemade halupki, peroghi, halushki and more. Amazing desserts like baklava, nut rolls, poppyseed rolls, nut horns, giant cookies and more. There will also be cold beer, polka, craft vendors and children's activities. This amazing day for all is free. Fremont • Squires Base Ball Match: Beginning at 3 p.m., at Spiegel Grove, 1337 Hayes Avenue. See how base ball was played during the Civil War era with the Spiegel Grove Squires. The Squires are volunteers who have studied and learned the methods of play used in the 1860s, including playing bare-handed. Players are called ballists, and they wear period-style uniforms and adopt the language of 19th-century base ball during their matches, as games were called during the 1860s. This week's match will be against the Canton Cornshuckers. Huron • Amplify: Beginning at 6 p.m., at Huron Boat Basin, located at 330 Main Street. A summer praise and worship gathering for all ages, with food trucks available and T-shirts for sale. Rain location will be St. Peter Church, located at 430 Main St. Norwalk • 9th Annual Vehicle Show: From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Firelands Historical Complex, located at Case Avenue. Open for the public to stop by and view some truly stellar vehicles while also getting a chance to tour the museum, this event is free for the public attend. There will be a 50/50 raffle and V&M Kitchen LLC will be making their debut with the Firelands, and offering up some delicious favorites. There is a $10 registration cost for those who would like to register their vehicle. Dash plaques will be given to the first 80 vehicles and there will be trophies given out for certain categories. Proceeds to benefit Firelands Historical Society. MONDAY Norwalk • True Crime Podcast Club: From 6 – 7 p.m., at Norwalk Public Library, located at 46 W. Main Street. Program includes graphic content and only open to adults. Port Clinton • What's Going On in Your Backyard? Moths: From 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., at Ida Rupp Public Library, located at 310 Madison Street. Your backyard is alive with creatures you may have never noticed, especially moths. These creatures of the night are often overlooked, though they are incredibly diverse and play vital roles in healthy ecosystems as pollinators, food sources, and great indicators of biodiversity. In this presentation by Erie MetroParks, you'll learn how to attract and support moths and other wildlife by creating habitat with native plants, reducing light pollution, and embracing natural spaces. Discover how a few small changes can bring big benefits to both moths and the overall habitat right outside your door.There is no cost to attend and no pre-registration is required. WEDNESDAY Sandusky • Stitch & B*tch Crafting Club: From 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., at Sandusky Book Bar, located 2101 W. Perkins Avenue. Grab your crafting and a buddy and come to the Book Bar for the (back again for good) monthly Stitch & B*tch! This is just meant to be a place for folks to work on their crafts outside of the home while being a little social. There is no cost to attend. Huron • Nature Scavenger Hunt: From 10 – 11 a.m., at the Children's Forest in Osborn MetroPark located at 3910 Perkins Avenue. Explore the Children's Forest and see if you can find nature themed items listed on the cards with prizes for good effort. After the scavenger hunt, kids can enjoy the outdoor play areas. Geared towards ages 3-12. There is no cost to attend and no registration required. Meet in the parking lot near the dog park. Fremont • Verandah Concert Series: From 6:30 – 8 p.m., at the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums at Spiegel Grove. This series features a variety of musical acts from across the region. There is an old-fashioned ice cream social prior to the concert. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets and choose their favorite spot on the expansive and shady lawn in front of the home. Donations are accepted for ice cream but not required.
