MARGARETTA • The Lucky Clovers 4-H Club helped with this month's food pantry hosted at Margaretta Elementary. HURON • Students in the middle and high schools who are a part of Huron's cross country teams hosted the program's annual All Night Run on Friday night. Huron athletes picked partners and selected one-hour time slots to run around the high school's track. Many family members and friends came to support the event and contribute by walking or running the track as well. Middle schoolers and the community participated until 10 p.m, after which the high school cross country team took over through the night and early morning until 7 a.m. The combined efforts of all participants had achieved a total of 836 miles. • Huron Schools presented its new district website. The district announced that the new website, huronk12.org, went live at the start of the month. SOUTH CENTRAL FFA • South Central's FFA students participated in competitions at the state level. Students participated in: — Nash Feichtne, swine — Isabella Kimberlin, swine — Claire Huffman, rabbits and poultry — Isabella Lucha, poultry These students will also compete at the Huron County Fair. EDISON • Edison Middle School hosted Camp Invention. The camp is a nationally acclaimed program providing campers with hands-on STEM activities. Students participated in activities like creating a claw machine and learning the science behind optical illusions. • The Edison High School debate club will meet this week. The year's first meeting is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. on Thursday at the high school's innovation room. Interested students will learn about the rules and strategies of competing in policy debate for this year's topic: Resolved: the U.S. should significantly increase its exploration and/or development of the Arctic. Advisers said it's a great topic, and they welcome new debate club members. People can visit facebook.com/bhkiwanis to learn more. SANDUSKY CENTRAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL • Sandusky Central Catholic School's Jillian Gill and Kelly Gill hosted a carnival for the Collet family and friends. The event was a prize from the school's spring auction. • Donors and alumni Jerry and Shannon Guerra helped offer a prize in Sandusky Central Catholic School's live auction. The Guerra's boat was part of an experience of cruising local islands and enjoying a meal at The Cruise Nest. Ryan and Dawn Wikel were awarded the experience and shared it with board president Ben Moncher and his wife, Brittany, along with first-grade teacher Tara Beverick and her husband, Brandon. FIRELANDS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE • Firelands Electric Cooperative announced three winners of The A Team drawing. Nathan Willis and Evelyn Harris of New London Middle School and Alex Hause of Seneca East Middle School won the July drawing. The contest recognizes students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades who have a minimum of three A's on a recent report card. Participating students submit a report card and are entered into a drawing at the end of each grading period. The three winners receive a $15 Visa gift card and are recognized in Ohio Cooperative Living magazine and on Firelands' website and social media. Contest guidelines are available on the cooperative's website. The next drawing will be Dec. 10. PERKINS • Perkins High School was announced as one of the first 450 schools in the country to receive $5,000 through the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights program. T-Mobile is giving out $4 million in prize money: — One $1 million prize to upgrade a school's field, renovate its weight room, go on an all-expense-paid trip to the SEC Championship and more — 25 $25,000 finalist grants for football programs — 450 $5,000 grants for schools, which Perkins High School received The high school is still in the running for the $1 million prize.
