'Crazy' to believe: Cookie dough storefront closing

SANDUSKY — For Anna Esposito, closing her cookie dough storefront represented a very tough decision. "Sunday, Aug. 10 will be our final day serving cookie dough at our current location," Esposito wrote in a social media post this past week. "It's a bittersweet moment as we begin to close this chapter but one filled with deep appreciation for the memories we've made together." Esposito referred to her business, Doughin' Crazy, which debuted in 2019. It's among the original businesses to start right when its home, the Marketplace Downtown, also opened. Many people ordered cookie dough in various flavors. These dishes could be eaten by themselves or infused in a milkshake concoction with Toft Dairy ice cream. "From birthday celebrations and late-night treats to school events, fundraisers and festivals and even through COVID, you've welcomed us into your lives in the most meaningful ways — and, with your support, we were able to give back to local organizations, sponsor teams and events and show up for so many important causes in our community," Esposito said. She stressed how her team is "so proud of that legacy, and we're grateful to you for making it possible." Esposito noted she wants to spend more time with her family. She's a married mother of three children. They all helped her operate the storefront. Though this doesn't permanently mark the end for her cookie dough shop. "This isn't goodbye forever. We're leaving the door open for something new, perhaps in a different space, with fresh energy and familiar flavors," Esposito said. "So stay tuned: This may just be the beginning of something sweet." Esposito welcomes people to come for one last scoop at its current location. It's open from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. People can find the Marketplace Downtown at 133 E. Market St., Sandusky.
