Menus rock the pier

SANDUSKY — The final Party at the Pier concert of the season Thursday did not disappoint. Hundreds of people packed the Jackson Street Pier for a performance by the Menus. The band is a high-energy group that covers songs such as "Blood, Sweat and Tears," "Spinning Wheel" and the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women." The concert was integrated into Sandusky's three-day-long Tommy Boy Fest, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Chris Farley-starring movie of the same name. "Tommy Boy" was set in a fictionalized version of Sandusky. Many people were seen wearing Callahan Auto Parts shirts. That is the company Tommy owns/works for in the film. One man dressed up like Tommy from the scene where he is on a sailboat, stuck in the middle of the lake without any wind. Another emulated a late part of the movie in which Tommy straps road flares onto himself to make it look like a bomb so he could access a restricted part of a building. Party at the Pier is a program of the Greater Sandusky Partnership. This year, the partnership organized 11 shows, including Rumors: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, Back and Forth: A Tribute to the Foo Fighters and Elton Rohn: A Tribute to Elton John.
