PREP ROUNDUP: SMCC's Finneran medalist at Woodmore

CLYDE — St. Mary Central Catholic's Blake Finneran is off to a great start for his senior golf season. Finneran shot a 2-under-par 69 to win the Woodmore Invitational on Wednesday at Green Hills. Finneran also was medalist in a Sandusky Bay Conference River Division shootout Tuesday and was the medalist in an invitational last week in Fostoria. SMCC finished 10th in the 16-team with a team total of 326. Leo Will and Joey Finneran each shot 83 for the Panthers. Eastwood won the team title with a 314. Danbury and Margaretta tied for ninth at 354. The Polar Bears' Keiygan Morris shot an 82. Crestview 177, St. Paul 194 ASHLAND — Freshman Mason Beatty carded a 39 for the Flyers, but it wasn't enough against Crestview at Brookside Golf Club. Connor Polachek added a 42 for St. Paul while Everett Beal shot a 56 and Jacob Penwell finished with a 57. GIRLS GOLF Danbury 207, Oak Harbor 266 OAK HARBOR — Miranda Evans shot a 48 to lead Danbury past Oak Harbor. Also scoring for the Lakers in the match at Oak Harbor Golf Club: Ashley Lewis (50), Brilynne Sloan (53) and Addison Rader (56). Elle Gardiner led the Rockets with a 54. Margaretta 228, Elyria Catholic 239 LAGRANGE — Ellyse Schaefer fired a 50 to lead the Polar Bears to a non-league win over Elyria Catholic at Grey Hawk Golf Course. Ellaynah Schaefer added a 52 while Kali Elliott and Lillian Kimball each shot a 63. Thursday, Friday area slate A Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division boys and girls golf shootout at Woussickett Golf Course highlights Thursday's area prep sports slate. Friday, the area high school tennis season begins as Perkins visits Shelby and Port Clinton visits Norwalk in an OTCA match. Also Friday, several football scrimmages will be played: Eastwood at Clyde, 9 a.m.; Perkins, Colonel Crawford at Shelby, 10 a.m.; Toledo Scott at Huron, 4 p.m.; Sandusky at Clearview, 5 p.m.; and Keystone at St. Paul, 6 p.m.
