Gallery makes splash

HURON — Throughout August, the Huron Public Library, 333 Williams St., has a special exhibit, "Watercolors" by Deborah Loiacono in its gallery. It's located in the downstairs area. The library also drew attention to its monthly programming schedule for August. Here are some notable events: Tuesday, Aug. 12 • Art Club, 3 p.m. — The library will arrange a different still life for local artists in this monthly club. Draw or paint the still life and learn tips from others. Art supplies will not be provided. When the weather permits, the club will meet at local parks. • Stitch Niche Crochet Club, 3 p.m. — Do you love to crochet or would you like to learn how? Teens and adults can join in on the knitting craze and meet up and share current yarn projects, get help from library staff or just enjoy being in the company of other crafters. Bring a project or start a new one. Supplies will be provided. No registration is necessary. Wednesday, Aug. 13 • Euchre Night, 6:30 p.m. — Are you an avid euchre player or someone who wants to learn this fast-paced card game? Join players in the audio-visual area of the library for pick-up games. Bring a deck of cards if possible. No registration is necessary. Another Euchre Night is planned for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27. Thursday, Aug. 14 • Sign Language Group, 6 p.m. — Learn beginning sign language with fellow students in an entertaining and informal setting. Sunday, Aug. 17 • Movie Matinee, screening "Bad Guys," 2 p.m. — Based on the popular book, written by Sharon M. Draper, enjoy a summer weekend in the cool air conditioning at the library. Extra copies of the book will be available for checkout along with snacks and beverages to accompany the movie. Friday, Aug. 21 • Huron Garden Club Flower Show, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — The Huron Garden Club's annual summer flower show will be in the audio-visual area of Huron Public Library. A list of entry requirements is available at the library. Saturday, Aug. 22 • Huron Garden Club Flower Show, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — The show continues.
