Man pleads guilty to attempted sex crimes

FREMONT — A Deshler, Ohio, man recently pleaded guilty to attempting to have sex with a child. At a court hearing on July 28, Josue Vicente, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Vicente pleaded guilty to the one charge in exchange for one count of importuning, a fifth-degree felony, to be dismissed, according to court records. Vicente is scheduled to be sentenced at 1 p.m. on Sept. 10. Background The investigation into Vicente first began after a Fremont police detective posed as a 15-year-old girl on social media. Vicente allegedly contacted who he thought was the 15-year-old girl the previous day and offered to engage in sexual activities with the teen, according to a Fremont police report. Vicente arranged a place to meet up with the girl in Fremont. Shortly after he arrived, Vicente was arrested and transported to the Fremont Police Department, where he was found to have condoms inside the car that he was driving, the report states. Vicente was arrested on March 3, and booked into the Sandusky County Jail.
