PREP ROUNDUP: Finneran medalist as SMCC wins shootout

FOSTORIA — St. Mary Central Catholic senior Blake Finneran fired a nine-hole round of 37 to lead the Panthers to victory in the Sandusky Bay Conference River Division shootout Tuesday at Loudon Meadows Golf Club. Both SMCC and Woodmore finished with team scores of 176, but the Panthers took the win based on the fifth golfer's score. Finneran used an eagle putt on the final hole to finish one-over on the par-36 course. Freshman Joey Finneran added a 45 for the Panthers while Leo Will carded a 46. Pravir Gorty and Griffin Torey each shot a 48 for SMCC. Danbury finished seventh out of the 11 teams. Danny Carroll led the Lakers with a 45. Frankie Kovach tallied a 47 while Evan Sandvick (49) and Mason Kihlken (51) rounded out Danbury's scoring. Lake 162, Port Clinton 212 WOODVILLE — Carter Thompson shot a team-best 46 for Port Clinton, but the Redskins were defeated by Lake at Hidden Hills Golf Course. Derek Holly added a 50 for PC while Mason Short carded a 55. Evan Lovitt rounded out the scoring for the Redskins with a 61. GIRLS GOLF St. Paul 234, Vermilion 257 NORWALK — The Flyers made it two wins in as many days, topping Vermilion at Eagle Creek. Alia Bogard turned in the best score for St. Paul with a 54. She was backed by Aubrey Dilger's 56. Also for the Flyers, Annabelle Cooper carded a 61 and Jillian Weilnau tallied a 63. St. Paul defeated Willard by six strokes Monday. Joscelyn Alvarado led the Sailors with a 59 while Colleen Traut, Kate Smith and Allison Smith each fired a 66. Lake 269, Port Clinton 271 WOODVILLE — Port Clinton's Lillie Fox had a match-best 52, but the Redskins came up just short against Lake. Makenzie Collins added a 61 for PC.
